🚨 Gaganyaan IADT-02 Completed!! ISRO has successfully conducted the 2nd Integrated Air-Drop Test (IADT) of Gaganyaan on today morning after the first one in August 2025! 🔥 The aim of this test was to validate the parachutes and other recovery systems on board Gaganyaan that are necessary for safely landing the Crew Module on Earth upon its return from orbit. In this test, the Crew Module, weighing in at 5.7 tons, was lifted by a Chinook aircraft and dropped from an altitude of 3 km over the Bay of Bengal near the Sriharikota coast. The Crew Module subsequently slowed itself down autonomously using a series of drogue and main parachutes, followed by a soft splashdown in the sea.

🚨 Gaganyaan IADT-02 Completed!! We have touchdown...AGAIN! 🌘 Yesterday the Vikram Lander fired up its thrusters once again to perform a little hop on the Lunar surface, becoming only the 2nd spacecraft to ever do so! 🥈 It lifted off, got to an altitude of only 40 cm and then landed again 30-40 cm away. To safely perform this hop, the ChaSTE and ILSA instruments as well as the ramps had to be retracted and have been successfully redeployed after landing. The reason for this hop was to test out aspects of future sample return missions and crewed missions to the Moon by ISRO!! #Chandrayaan3 #ISRO

It will be used by ISRO's S-band radar and NASA's L-band radar payloads on the spacecraft to provide detailed data about Earth's surface features, ecosystems, and geological processes.
