I was arrested yesterday by Israeli police for trying to stop Israeli settlers from stealing wheat from privately owned Palestinian land using their sheep. That night, I was released with a 15 day ban from the entire West Bank - to let the settlers terror run wild without resistance. The Israeli police and army are complicit in this. He grabbed me by my hair, beat me, and choked me. Nothing new here. I’m fine, of course - this is just how it is. This is the face of the Israeli Apartheid regime. Today is "Shabbat Hebron", an annual event where, for the past 30 years, thousands of Israelis have ventured into the heart of the largest Palestinian city in the West Bank, home to approximately 250,000 Palestinians and around 800 Israeli settlers. As part of this event, the Israeli military imposes a lockdown on large areas of the city (affecting only Palestinians, of course) for two full days. The already severely restricted freedom of movement for Palestinians is entirely suspended to accommodate this settler festival. Year after year, this event becomes a fertile ground for mass violence, with settlers destroying property and attacking Palestinians with impunity, under the protection and endorsement of the Israeli army and government. This reality cannot continue. We must end the occupation and the violence immediately. We must refuse to participate in these crimes - better to be imprisoned than to be complicit in such injustices! No one is free until we are all free✊☮️
