A landmark moment at #ITER! The final module of the central solenoid was added to complete the stack. This powerful magnet, the beating heart of ITER, will induce the plasma current needed to initiate & help control the fusion reaction inside the tokamak.

The sixth vacuum vessel sector is in position in the ITER tokamak pit, bringing two-thirds of the plasma chamber into place. Touchdown came after 29.5 hours—six hours faster than the previous sector. Every operation builds the machine and the team’s expertise #ITER #FusionEnergy

Watch sector module #5 twist, turn, and glide its way into the tokamak pit. 1,100 tonnes ➜ rotated 90° ➜ landed with just 10 mm to spare. 3/9 of the machine is in position! Call it precision… or call it art. #fusion #iter #tokamak

The full-scale Japanese prototype of ITER’s divertor outer vertical target is undergoing extreme heat testing in Saint Petersburg. Exposed to 20 MW/m²—twice the heat of a space shuttle re-entry—this tungsten-armored component must endure thousands of cycles to qualify for #ITER.
