Sara Duterte requests P10 million budget to print and distribute a self-authored book for children A heated exchange broke out in the Philippine Senate after opposition Senator Risa Hontiveros (Akbayan) asked Vice President Sara Duterte what is the contents of the book for which the Office of the Vice President requested P10 million as part of its campaign to give 1 million school bags to impoverished school children. After Sen. Hontiveros said she will file a motion to have the requested budget of the OVP be instead given to other government agencies as part of streamlining overlapping public services, VP Sara Duterte proceeded to get defensive, accusing Sen. Hontiveros of politicizing the budget and going after her whilst reminded the lady senator that Davao City and the Dutertes helped elect Hontiveros to national office. Sen. Hontiveros replied by saying that only Duterte seems fixated on votes and China during the hearing, ending her statements with the words, "This is public funds and we are making inquiries. Confirmed. Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte's district received P51 billion pesos during the last 3 years of his father's presidency. His own father's office requested for such amounts in the national budget. This was confirmed by Public Works Undersecretary Maria Catalina Cabral to ABS-CBN Henry Omaga-Diaz. According the House Appropriations Chair Rep. Elizaldy Co, the average budget allocation per district is P500 million P4 billion pesos. Budget Assistant Secretary Rhea Dela Vega says that this could only mean that projects in other districts were cut to make room for the P51 billion allocated to Rep. Duterte's district. Rep. Co claims that Philippine lawmakers are complaining about the unfairness of the budget distribution whilst local political commentators report that Rep,. Duterte has become politically isolated in the House after recent revelations.

Absolutely insane scenes at the Philippine House of Representatives as VP Sara Duterte requests Marikina's 2nd district Rep Stella Quimbo (Liberal Party), Vice-Chair of the House Appropriations Committee, to cease chairing the hearing for the Office of the Vice President's budget. She asked for Chairman Elizaldy Co (AKO BICOL Party-list) to instead chair the hearing. Duterte became increasingly angry and defensive at the House committee after repeated questions by House members, asking her to explain how her department spent controversial the confidential funds P120 million peso confidential fund from the previous budget. Duterte then went on to accuse Rep. Quimbo and other committee members of politicizing the budget process and not following the rules of the House.

Wait, wait. So let me get this straight. Leviste HAD THE CABRAL FILES for like 3 months after breaking into DPWH offices without a warrant and proper authority, and he held onto it for 3 MONTHS until Cabral died. And now, after 3 MONTHS, he decides to go to the media and decides to paint everyone with corruption (excluding himself and his political friends of course.) And he wants us to believe him? Justice Secretary Remulla has indicated to Philippine media that he will open up the Sara Duterte confidential funds case upon taking office as Ombudsman. Multiple inquiries and legal actions regarding confidential intelligence funds spent by Sara Duterte while serving as Vice President and concurrent Education Secretary have emerged. The allegations, which surfaced primarily in 2024 and 2025, involve highly questionable spending, lack of transparency, and the potential misuse of millions of pesos. These allegations include P125 million spent in just 11 days, P150 million in "intelligence funding" for Department of Education" and fake recipients of said as shown by a House inquiry.

THE PHILIPPINES STRIKES GAS | LUZON GRID SAVED The Philippines has struck a new source supply of natural gas at the Malampaya gas field north-west of Palawan, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said Monday, making it the country’s first major discovery in Malampaya in more than a decade. About 2.8 billion cubic metres (98 billion cubic feet) of natural gas was found 5km (three miles) east of the Malampaya, Marcos said, or enough to provide power to 5.7 million homes for a year. This means energy for to more than 5.7 million households, 9,500 buildings, or nearly 200,000 schools for one year “Malampaya will give us energy security and a cheap source of natural gas ...This is historic ” Energy Secretary Sharon Garin told ABS-CBN's DZMM Radio in interview, adding she expects electricity prices to fall within the next few years because of the discovery. There was growing worry in the Philippines over our country's long term economic security as existing wells in the Malampaya field start to run dry in 2027. The gas from Malampaya supplies as much as 50% of the electricity of Luzon, the largest island and home of the economic center - Metro Manila. The Philippines has one of the highest energy costs in the region and imports over half of its gas from the world market. The discovery, suggested the potential to produce even more, President Marcos added.

Thanks to that, Romualdez and Nancy Binay (who Marcoleta was clearly trying to go after with his witness' SCRIPTED testimony to the Senate) both aren't being charged by the NBI. Worse, the Duterte supporters are saying Guteza is "missing". You mean you guys didn't keep close tabs on the man meant to help bring down one of your major political opponents? 🤣 Justice Secretary Jesus Remulla said former House Speaker Martin Romualdez and former Senator Nancy Binat are not yet among the 21 individuals recommended for prosecution by the National Bureau of Investigation. Remulla explained that the testimony of Orly Guteza during a Senate hearing still requires verification. He added that Guteza failed to appear at his scheduled appointment with the DOJ today to submit his affidavit for evaluation. This, Remulla noted, is the reason Romualdez's name has not been included in the official list released by the NBI. During questioning Senate, Guteza further alleged that one of Romualdez’s properties used to belong to MICHAEL YANG, former president Rodrigo DUTERTE'S economic adviser who was later linked to the Pharmally corruption scandal.
