Compare this to Freeman’s handshake with Syracuse head coach Fran Brown after yesterday’s game… Pretty clear what Freeman thinks of both men.

I really thought Notre Dame would win the national championship after one of the most glorious opening drives I’ve ever seen. Just watch RG Rocco Spindler and LG Billy Schrauth here. The A Gap parts like the red sea and they drive their guys to the goal line.

Jadarian Price is so unselfish. He gets tackled at the 1-yard line, then immediately motions to Jeremiyah Love, saying, “Come get your third touchdown.” Love tells Price to stay in and get his fourth, which he does.

A closer look at CJ Carr checking into an out-n-up to Jordan Faison, via NBC Sports’ cameras. He saw Purdue sitting on the out route, so he signaled to his most-targeted receiver and it led to a touchdown. Not something you often see from a redshirt freshman in his third start.

Notre Dame's winner of the "biggest transformation from Year 1 to Year 2" award might be Jerome Bettis Jr. The redshirt freshman WR (and, of course, son of the legendary RB) added significant muscle over the offseason and looks like a completely different player.

After a Notre Dame loss, we try to look for things ND can do better. But sometimes, the other guys are just really good. This is pretty good coverage by Leonard Moore. But just a tremendous, physical, smart (that push will never get called in a million years) route by Smith.

This might look like a mundane throwaway, because it is. But to Notre Dame QBs coach Gino Guidugli, it was a sign of CJ Carr’s progress. Not a decision he makes in 2025. “That was one of my proudest moments,” Guidugli said. “He threw that ball away, like, that is growth.”

For those (like me) who were wondering, assistant DBs coach Marty Biagi said Christian Gray did not get beat on Luke Talich’s INT. He knew he had help over the top. “He was able to play underneath. The ball has to go high in the air, and that’s where you want 6-4.”

Asked Christian Gray why he switched back to 29 from 6. His response: "God told me to go back to 29. Six was not me. I looked at a picture of me, I said, 'Yeah, that's not me.'" How does it feel to be back in 29? "I feel much better. I feel like Christian Gray."

Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa is doing full-contact activities in fall camp, less than nine months post-ACL reconstruction. He's on a pitch count, but LBs coach Brian Jean-Mary called him a "mutant" in how quickly he's recovered. It would surprise me if we don't see him in Week 1.

It's time for everyone — writers and fans alike — to stop sleeping on Matt Jeffery. Few, if any, Notre Dame wideouts were more active in Thursday's practice than the star midfielder on the men's lacrosse team. Don't be surprised if he has a real offensive role.
