It’s unclear what exactly is happening in the video, but several Chinese-language channels are claiming that an Indonesian man was being bullied or beaten at Jincai 5, also known as New Golden Wealth V Casino in Sihanoukville. Posts circulating online describe this as routine punishment for workers who miss their targets. They mention shifts of 15 to 16 hours and say similar abuse happens in other buildings, including forced physical exercises such as push-ups for both men and women.

This is insane. I’ve never seen anything like it. Video footage shows Chinese nationals sleeping outside the Chinese embassy, with crowds stretching beyond the compound as they wait for assistance after multiple scam compounds across the country opened their doors and evacuated.

Thai forces have reportedly entered Thmor Da, Pursat Province. According to residents and CCTV footage, Thai army units moved into Cambodian civilian homes. Thmor Da is not a recognized disputed border area between Cambodia and Thailand. If confirmed, this constitutes an incursion into Cambodian-administered territory.

Inside Bangkok’s $27,000-a-Month Scam Mansion Thai immigration police raided a luxury mansion in Bangkok’s Bang Bon district this week and found an alleged call-center operation targeting people in Japan. Four Japanese nationals were among 14 people detained. Police say Japanese members were making calls into Japan while others handled the operation. The scam allegedly started with someone posing as a delivery company and telling the target that an illegal parcel was linked to their name. The call would then be handed over to someone pretending to be Japanese police. Inside the mansion, officers found Japanese-language scripts, fake police uniforms and equipment used for the calls. One script reportedly told operators to type on a disconnected keyboard so victims would hear office noise in the background. The property itself was enormous, with more than 2,500 square meters of usable space and rent reportedly around $27,000 a month. Thai Immigration told TV Asahi that the Japanese police impersonation method was “the same system” seen in Poipet, although there is no confirmed link between this group and an operation in Cambodia.

Driving to dinner after the gym tonight - Sihanoukville is a ghost town. Quiet on levels not seen since the 2019 online gambling ban hit and almost like when the pandemic kept everyone inside. I really feel for sellers, servers, bartenders, cashiers, and Cambodians who came to Sihanoukville looking for work. Casino business is not sustainable especially when there are improper regulations and illegal operations are allowed to take place behind a licensed casino front. Casinos breed crime. Casinos bring the worst of the worst. While Sihanoukville might not return to what it was like back in the early 2000s, trashy casinos and the trashy people that come with them are not the answer.

A Ransom Was Paid and Two Chinese Executives Were Killed in Manila, the Suspect Fled to the USA Xia Ke Fu and his Chinese-American partner went to Manila in June 2024 for what they were told was a business deal. Their families paid 3 million RMB to get them back, and both were killed anyway, their bodies left in a ravine in Camarines Sur. On July 20 the man China calls the ringleader, named only as Liu, walked off a commercial flight at Beijing Capital Airport in handcuffs, repatriated from the United States. The Ministry of Public Security says Liu led a group that repeatedly kidnapped and killed Chinese nationals in the Philippines. He fled to the US after the 2024 killings. Beijing issued an Interpol Red Notice, shared evidence with US law enforcement, and the US arrested him in October 2024. MPS is presenting the handover as a product of the Xi-Trump summit and a China-US win against transnational crime. Xia was a marketing director at Suzhou RainMed Medical Technology; his partner held US citizenship, and a friend reported the kidnapping to the FBI's Los Angeles office. Philippine police named eight persons of interest in 2024, five foreigners and three Filipinos, but the man Beijing wanted was already in the US. MPS gave no charge against Liu and did not say under what legal mechanism the US sent him back.

Four Foreigners Detained After a Gold Shop Theft Attempt in Đắk Lắk, Vietnam This morning, two foreigners attempted to steal gold pieces from a jewelry shop in Sông Cầu. Their strategy -distract the owner while the foreigner lady tried to pocket the gold. It failed as the owner saw her and shouted. The pair dropped the gold and ran out to a waiting car with two others. The gold was worth about 208 million dong, roughly $8,000. Police finally stopped the car an hour later, about 40 km north over the provincial line in Gia Lai, and detained all four, three men and a woman. No nationalities mentioned and no charges announced. I supposed they may not get the full sentence of 7-15 which Article 173 of Vietnam’s penal code calls for since it was an attempted robbery, but Vietnam doesn’t mess around. It’s not exactly the place I’d try stealing stuff. Foreigners behaving badly in other countries…yikes.

Online sources say Chen Zhi’s arrest is driving departures from Prince-linked scam compounds, with possible ripple effects across Cambodia’s wider scamming industry. Three days after his detention and deportation, reports describe low-level recruiters leaving first, followed by operators and then big bosses. Activity reportedly began on the evening of January 7, with vehicles sent to move people from Prince-linked compounds in Phnom Penh, then similar movements elsewhere. At the same time, big bosses are said to be exploring exit options. Social media posts now openly advertise charter flights and sea routes, warning that conditions are changing and urging quick payment. Sources also claim Chen Zhi’s case is not the end, with another major arrest expected involving a figure previously seen as beyond reach. Observers suggest the Chen Zhi case may mark a turning point, ending the perception that certain figures were untouchable.

Khmer nationals in Thailand are being harassed and violently attacked—simply for being Cambodian. They have nothing to do with the border clash. They didn’t fire rockets or provoke anyone. They’re just living and working like everyone else. Blaming them for what’s happening at the border is ignorant and dangerous. If your anger turns into violence against innocent people, you’ve already lost the moral ground.

WATCH: The Nigerian Who Gave Himself the Title "Big Boss" of DODORIMA Rammed a Police Car on Rama III Thai narcotics police arrested a Nigerian man they call the head of DODORIMA on Monday night outside a luxury condo on Rama III in Bangkok. As officers boxed in his car he reversed hard into one of theirs, injuring an officer, and they smashed the window and pulled him out. Police found 18 grams of cocaine in the car, and when they searched his condo they seized a Toyota, Thai and US cash, money in the bank, and a pile of brand-name goods, about 700,000 baht all told. Police say he'd been in Thailand more than seven years, starting out running cocaine to tourists in the nightlife areas before appointing himself boss of DODORIMA, which they describe as the Thai branch of a global West African network called NBM of Africa. They say the network moved 380 million baht in the past year alone, with proceeds allegedly wired home to build a mansion in Nigeria. The charity events and donation drives were cover, police say, a way to launder drug and romance-scam money and to get close to well-connected people he could supply. Investigators say this traces back to Operation Dark Room, the May raid on a Nonthaburi condo where six Nigerians were arrested for running romance scams, and that the money from that operation led to DODORIMA. He's admitted the cocaine and denied the laundering, says his money is from a legitimate fish-export business and that DODORIMA is just friends doing charity. The name, he told police, means "hello."
