According to this Labour Government 16 and 17 year olds are mature enough to vote, but not to serve on a jury. That is an "adult duty" apparently. They are old enough to vote, but are now subject to a government-mandated social media curfew at 8.30pm. The only consistent thing about Labour's votes at 16 policy is the blatant party political self interest.

Andy Burnham has finally done what the Conservatives said he should do. Make sure that no rapists, paedophiles or violent sexual criminals are released early. He made this decision at the last minute, and the Prison Governors Association say they do not have enough time to implement this properly. I raised this with the then Deputy Prime Minister last month. The Government should have made this decision weeks ago. Only the Conservatives will prioritise the safety of British people and make sure violent sexual criminals serve their full sentences.

This is happening all across the country. I wrote to the Housing Secretary to demand he takes action. His reply was word salad, a vague promise to “analyse consultation responses” and no meaningful response. Labour are not serious about ending the abuse of retrospective planning.
