Hitler was convinced Germany was stripped of its pure beauty because the Czechs, Pols, Slavs, and Jews were living in the, what Hitler believed, Aryan world. Christian nationalism believes that America is stripped of its beauty and culture because various nationalities make up the population. And, as Wolfe views it, has evicted the Western European white Protestant man from his place as “Native American,” who “founded, built, and died for” America. I’ll say it every time—Christian nationalism is just nationalism with a vague Christian aesthetic.

It’s pretty bizarre to me that Howerton and gang really think the US has a 5-day work week because of the founding fathers recognizing both Saturday and Sunday as Sabbath days. When in reality it wasn’t standardized until fairly recently in the 1920s-1930s because of factory workers.

The NRSV is considered one of the most accurate English translations among several biblical scholars. It was made by an entire collection of Bible scholars and translators associated with the SBL. The National Council of Churches endorsed it. It does the best job at faithfully translating the original languages with what we have in English to remain as near to the source text. And yet, Josh Howerton is saying to burn it because it’s “woke.” This clip explains so much of Josh’s own Bible understanding, and sometime lack-there-of. If you’re calling the NRSV “woke” because it doesn’t affirm your culture war biases, you have completely lost the ropes.

The fact that JP reads this verse and assumes it’s a metaphor for a vagina is truly wild. Proverbs 5 is just Solomon giving his son advise to remain faithful to his wife. To think of a cistern and assume it’s a description of a vagina simply because of an “opening” is childish.
