This week I chaired a Research & Technology Subcommittee hearing on strengthening U.S. leadership in robotics and the rise of “physical AI.” Robotics is already transforming industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, and logistics, but China and others are investing aggressively while the U.S. still lacks a national strategy. My bipartisan National Commission on Robotics Act will help ensure America stays competitive and turn innovation into real world results for our workforce and economy.

I was proud to participate in an Energy and Commerce full committee markup focused on protecting children online and giving parents stronger tools to safeguard their families. The committee advanced several bills that take meaningful steps to address the growing risks kids face in the digital world while empowering parents to make informed decisions about their children’s online activity. As technology continues to evolve, Congress must ensure families have the resources and protections they need to keep their children safe.

During a House Energy & Commerce hearing this week, I questioned the CEO of Blue Shield of California about a $500,000 donation the company made to a political committee that supported the partisan Prop 50 ballot measure. I made clear that writing massive checks without knowing, or claiming not to know, how the money would be used is an unacceptable use of ratepayer dollars for a health insurer. When insurance companies inject themselves into overtly partisan politics, it undermines public trust and distracts from the real mission of lowering costs and improving patient care. I also raised serious concerns about Medicare Advantage decisions that cut our rural hospitals out of their networks and force patients to travel hours for basic care. Patients deserve accountability, transparency, and access, not partisan politics.
