Curtis Sliwa: “Anybody who knows the history of New York City knows we’ve had socialists in elected office.” “Somehow life went on … I don’t fear socialists. I don’t fear communists. I say, leave it to the people.”

Impossible to read this anecdote and not think of the Bill Burr bit

We need to make the Winter Olympics weird again: It’s time to bring back Ski Ballet

JACKASS FOREVER using a fake Covid compliance officer as a way to get everyone’s guard down for a gag makes it a defining piece of pandemic cinema

I love thinking about the “smart jersey” they unveiled seven years ago that could change if your favorite player got traded. Was it not feasible? Or did they just realize it’s way more lucrative to sell you multiple jerseys instead of one?

Hoyte van Hoytema has explained it as essentially a limitation of IMAX. You have to center punch because the screen is so big and the viewer’s eyes can’t jump around it. It works in so many other formats *because* it’s shot with IMAX in mind, so nothing is lost at the edges.

I know just the expert to call to testify before Congress on this phenomenon
