This was the 3rd down Wildcat. Minnesota knew exactly what they were gonna do when M lined up in this formation: Blitz a safety right through an open gap.

You gotta be kidding me. That’s a weak call, especially when the ref had his eye on those two the whole time.

The is a complete lack of awareness by the officials. The kid falls flat on his face after taking a late hit directly to the head.

Here’s another play I can’t comprehend. To be clear, I simply don’t see/know the long game. Maybe this is all a big setup. Maybe there’s a perfectly good explanation that’ll be revealed down the line. Maybe a coach or player sees this tweet and thinks “lol, this mf don’t know shit”. But why give to Marshall when this play is so clearly DOA? If the RPO is ON, why not pull & throw to Marsh?

For those asking “why wasn’t St. Brown ruled down?” Well, because he wasn’t touched when his knee touched, and he pitched it on his feet, er foot. #DETvsSF

A special recognition for Max Bredeson. Man, that guy is a true legend. He came here as a walk-on and has done nothing but give every ounce of effort and love for Michigan. We enjoyed watching you play, 44. We’ll miss you. But I bet we see him on the sidelines again someday.

Man, I really love this play design by OU. Watch 81 in the tight slot on the right. The action looks like jet sweep right. 81 sells an arching lead block play side. But he cuts back across the grain, Mateer pulls up, and hits his man who’s wide open. This is 🤌

I think the Offensive Line is gonna have an unpleasant film session today. I don’t think they were very physical. Tell me who wins the point of attack on this play? (Hint: it’s not the guys whose helmets go backwards)

I’ve never been a QB, and I don’t get paid to call plays for a football team, but why are you calling this into the boundary with no space to work. And why are you throwing this into such a tight window? On 1st down? In overtime?!?!?

Justice Haynes points something out to BU prior to the snap. BU then changes the play at the line. I like the communication. The changed play results in a first down.

My personal favorite stolen sign: “We’re a 21 point favorite at home over a 5 loss TUN with 5 starters out & a walk-on QB. 20 is getting the ball. Get a hand on him, but let him break every tackle so they can kick a game winning FG” On 1. Ready? Break!

Not allowing big plays is key to beating a good team. This run was stuffed, until it wasn’t.

I really thought this play was gonna turn the game around. Just a really smart play by Staehling who sniffs out the screen, makes an athletic catch and runs 79 yards for the Pick 6.

The more I watch replays, the more I see the WMU linebackers having unfettered free range. They made a ton of tackles without ever having to defeat a block. Gotta get to the 2nd level this weekend to get the running game going.

Last play. I’m sure the comments will be tempered and rational lol. Tommy Carr on 3rd down tosses a perfectly placed ball to Salesi Moa for the first TD for both of them.

Jyaire Hill almost had a pick on 2nd down. Now it’s 3rd & long. Wink dials up a perfect safety blitz that gives Hillman a free shot at Mateer. He misses, and nobody’s holding the edge. So instead of Oklahoma punting, they have it 1st & goal.

This play is *this* close to breaking big. RT Sprague (54) chips the DT and is supposed to come off to pick up the backside defender. He’s late, and that guy makes the tackle. I believe you’ll see better timing and execution going forward. This is Michigan’s bread & butter blocking scheme. We’ve seen these guys execute it a bunch before.

After rewatching the game last night, it was clear to me that not everyone is comfortable with their assignments, in particular the OL. There was a fair bit of MAs and/or targeting the wrong defender (among other issues) Like, there’s no way LG Link (71) should’ve left this DT unblocked. Either he didn’t hear the call, or misunderstood it.

I have no idea wtf this field judge is seeing. She comes in from the sideline, looks at the top layer of a mass of humanity, and emphatically signals Northwestern ball. She can’t see who has it, but she is unwavering. Meanwhile Semaj comes out of the pile with the ball. 🐴 💩

They are not resetting the Line of Scrimmage. Also, I would like to see what would’ve happened had Bryce given to Hiter.

Good play call but again, it’s rushed by an inexperienced QB. Sell the pass a little longer - let the blocks to setup. By rushing it, Bryce runs OUTSIDE the pulling guard’s kick out block. If he waited a split second, he runs inside it like it’s designed & it’s a winning play.

I’m wondering if this was a legit zone read. I can’t say for sure, but I would’ve like to see Bryce keep it.

After the OSU FG, it’s 3rd & 5. The left side of the line holds up, but the right side does not. My bigger concern is, who is Bryce supposed to throw to? If you’re expecting 2 TEs to out-play that secondary without the help of a pick or some sort of mesh… IDK man

I watched this over and over, wondering if the play was meant to the left side, and Haynes improvised because Bredeson trapped the NG rather than getting to the LB on the left. But nope, this is the design, and it’s fun to watch.

Hiter’s first career touchdown. Good movement by the OL. Hiter blasts through the LB while also having a couple other guys hanging on. Tie game, 7-7.

3rd & 5 They’re gonna pull the backside guard and tackle. Link has a looong way to go but he does it perfectly. Jonathan Brown - freshman RB out of Ohio - looks *very* comfortable waiting for the play to develop. Really good patience and vision to pick up the first down.

3rd & 1 Split zone blocking. Hiter shows good patience, cutting back 2 gaps to slip behind Link’s “Wall of Friendly Butt”. That’s good awareness and power to defeat Nichol’s tackle attempt. Lot to like there.

How far away is the blocking? Based on this example, not far. Everyone has their guy. The wall of friendly butts is between Loveland’s down block and Bredeson’s kick out. The DT just wins his battle and makes a play.
