Visited Attirampakkam and Gudiyam Caves in Tiruvallur district, Tamil Nadu, two remarkable sites from India’s prehistoric past. Attirampakkam is India’s oldest securely dated Acheulean (Lower Palaeolithic) sites, with stone tools dating back about 1.5 million years. The site was originally discovered in 1863 by British geologist Robert Bruce Foote, who is widely regarded as the father of Indian prehistory. Nearby, Gudiyam Caves, close to Poondi, are prehistoric rock shelters associated with Palaeolithic stone tool activity. Timely guidance shapes young lives. Through 'Coffee with Collector' Program, we mentor students to become better individuals and future leaders. I spend 1–1.5 hours per batch and have personally met around 15,000 students over the past two years at the Collectorate. Seeing governance up close inspires them.
