I was so sad to have to sing Loch Lomond for Jock. I would rather be singing it with him. Rest easy my friend and I’ll see you when I get there. We’ll be there for Lauren and your weans. Full video on my FB page. @jane13barnes @mahaliabarnes @applestreetmusic Jackie James Barnes

I got to sing ‘Forever Now’ with neil mullane finn last Friday night for the ‘Infinity Sessions’ live stream. I want to thank Victoria Kelly for her beautiful string arrangement, and all the lovely voices backing me up. I love this version of an old favourite Cold Chisel song.

I have to share this special moment at my birthday party. Grandchildren Betty, Billy, Rosie and Dylan singing ‘A Million Dreams’ from ‘The Greatest Showman’, accompanied by Leo on the piano. There’s something very moving about children’s voices, they had me and half the room in tears. I’m a lucky man.

40 years ago, Ride The Night Away from my album For The Working Class Man, made its Australian chart debut. The song was co-written with my good mate Steve Van Zandt (E Street Band), and Steve Jordan (current drummer for Rolling Stones). The song also features Mick Fleetwood on drums. Here’s the official video.

For me, one of the great things about being part of a music festival is getting to spend time with my mates. We’re usually tour around different parts of the world and it’s pretty special when our paths cross. Sometimes magic moments happen like this one on Sunday. I’ve worked with Ian Moss for 50 years and he never ceases to amaze me. ‘When the War is over’ written by our Cold Chisel brothers Steve Prestwich and Don Walker

Hey everyone, I’ve got some news to share with you. My incredible doctors have cleared me to go back in next week to have my hip replaced with a permanent joint. I’m obviously not looking forward to more surgery but this is actually good news. I’d like to apologise in advance to my darling Jane who’s going to be back in nursing mode for the next few weeks (I’m not a great patient if you didn’t know). The temporary hip that I had in there for the past few months did its job, and it got me through the amazing Cold Chisel “The Big Five-0” Tour. I’d like to thank the very talented physios who strapped me up like I was in a grand final every night. That got me through the shows. I’ve got another big year coming up, and this new hip will have me stomping around the stage before you can say 1, 2, 3, 4. See you on the road.

Make sure you all come along… it’s gonna be a hell of a Good Time. Tune into Channel 10 News tonight at 6pm… we’ll be chatting Angela Bishop about the tour.

This was the first full song I’ve sung since going into hospital in November. It was great singing with my family again, it made us all feel safe, it made everything ok. ‘It’ll Be Alright With Me’ from Flesh and Wood. Music heals. Full video on my Facebook page.
