Kawhi just took the mic from Jama. Who are you and what have you done with Kawhi Leonard?! 😂

Kawhi with the scouting report on Darko

RJ Barrett: “Not to take anything away from the shot, very thankful, it was a great shot, I was really happy in the moment, but we’ve gotta move on. Gotta win tonight. The shot doesn’t really mean much if we don’t get the job done here tonight.”

Hearing Kawhi say the Raptors are Scottie’s team is encouraging. That’s how he approached it with Lowry, coming in 8 years ago. It’s one of the big reasons why that dynamic worked.

First of two practices for Team Canada on Day 1 of training camp and two of the last players on the court: the cousins, SGA and NAW.

One last game ball for Kyle Lowry in Toronto?

Kawhi on the ramp-up & getting acclimated: "I feel good. Being smart, taking it slow. Just getting familiar with everybody. Getting the names right with each coach, learning the plays. Learning everything (Darko's) been doing. But it's been fun... It's been a great transition"

Reactions to the trade, playing with Kawhi, learning from the postseason, taking the next step as a player, and (strong) feelings on his All-D First Team snub: "I know it's all bulls***" My chat with Scottie Barnes:

In case you were wondering how many coaches it takes to put Kawhi through his post-practice workout… the answer is 7.

Darko vs Kawhi

The Raptors had some guests at practice today: 3 NBA officials to answer questions/go over the points of emphasis. What were Scottie's takeaways? "I don't really care. It looks a little weird. What they say is a foul and what they say isn't a foul all kinda look the same to me"

Shead got a text from his college coach Kelvin Sampson after forcing the 8s violation in Game 4: "He said he was proud of me and we both said culture. That's something that was engrained in me in 4 years there... Diving on the floor is not negotiable at the University of Houston”

I snuck in a non-Lowry question. Here are Rajakovic, Barnes & IQ on the newest Raptor, Kawhi Leonard Scottie: "I'm excited to learn from him. I've been watching him for a while." Darko: "He's one of the best players of his generation... We're really happy to have him back home"

This is the hallway leading up to the visitors’ locker room at Scotiabank Arena. These screens usually have Scotiabank logos on them. Today, before what could be his final game in Toronto, they’re a tribute to Kyle Lowry.

What will it mean to Lowry to one day have his jersey retired in Toronto? “Y'all ever see me cry? If it does & when it does, it will be a super emotional day. I put a lot of blood, sweat & tears in that 7." He also reiterated his plan to sign a 1-day contract & retire a Raptor.

SGA on Kawhi returning to the Raptors: “For as long as I can remember, Toronto has loved the Raptors… I don’t think that’s ever going to change no matter who plays for them. But adding a guy like that to your roster amplifies everything… Toronto should be a good team next year”

Jamal Shead on his new role as head of the Raptors' pre-game conga line: "I kinda forgot about it until the game started. I didn't prep the rookies... So we didn't do it like we were supposed to. It'll be better going forward.”

This version of Kawhi is older and wiser, and unlike the first time he arrived in Toronto, he seems genuinely excited to be here. That showed today. On Leonard’s re-intro presser and how he can help Scottie Barnes, for JayOnSC:

Lowry on what this weekend has meant to him: "The city, the country... it means so much to me. I'm always going to give my all and my best whenever I'm here."

Kawhi Watch 2026. What I’m hearing on the Raptors’ possible reunion with their 2019 Finals MVP, as the start of free agency nears:

Lowry's teammates clearly aren't accustomed to the big crowd around his locker & a few of them joined the party. Kyle also explained why he wore an Auston Matthews jersey to the game: "I respect the hell out of (him)... I appreciate him & I wanted to show support for the city"

Barrett on new 🇨🇦 🏀 training facility: “This is going to be such a great thing because, I don’t know if anybody’s noticing, but Canadian basketball is starting to become really serious.” Fun fact: this court on Humber North campus is where he played his 1st ever game for Canada

Kawhi Leonard took an important step in his preseason ramp-up today, but don’t expect him to make his Raptors (re-) debut until next week (at the earliest):

Latest on the Raptors’ “conditional” interest in Kawhi Leonard, the “limited flexibility” in what they’re offering, possible sticking points, and the likelihood of this unlikely reunion coming to fruition TSN

Barrett on Barnes: “I think he shut up a lot of talk & I’m happy he was able to do that because, man, that’s a winning player. Just because he’s not a guy that comes out & tries to get 30 every night does not mean that he’s not one of the best basketball players in this league”

Lowry said he wasn't sure if he was going to get in the game but credited his teammates for building a big lead. "I think that was part of their plan, to make sure I got in there... I got an opportunity to experience one of the greatest basketball moments of my personal career."
