For the first time since about 2010 I was sad to not be at Computex this week. I’m genuinely excited about Nvidia's RTX Spark. The idea of having AI agents running locally on a laptop or desktop—not always in the cloud—is one of the most interesting shifts in computing. But—and this is a big BUT!—I’ve also covered tech long enough to remember a lot of promises about the future of the PC. Meanwhile, Apple’s M series have completely reshaped our expectations of performance and battery life. The hardware doesn’t arrive until the fall. I’ll be first in line to test whether this is truly a new era for PCs or just another keynote!

Sam Altman vs. Mark Zuckerberg: Who runs the better meeting? Kevin Weil, OpenAI’s Chief Product Officer, has worked for both. On Zuckerberg: “Mark is more structured than Sam.... he's always open to feedback. You can say, I think you're wrong and here's why, but you better be ready for the debate that's coming on the other end of it because he has a reason why he thinks what he does." On Altman: “Sam is more of a visionary. He’s better at riding exponentials than the rest of us—he sees where things are headed and focuses on what we need to do to be ready for it.”

I spent a year letting AI into nearly every part of my life. And not just generative AI—self-driving cars, home robots and more. I wrote about it all in my new book, I AM NOT A ROBOT. But I couldn’t resist filming some of it along the way. Here’s the trailer. Preorder now:
