Eagles Offense All22 vs. 49ers. For the last time this year, thank goodness. 1) The first play of the game. The Eagles shift AJ Brown into a tight split, bringing a defensive back into the box, who, of course, makes the tackle on Saquon Barkley. I was already worried about this film, but this didn't make me feel any better. It was a sign of things to come..

Eagles Defense All22 Thread Week 1 vs. Cowboys. 1) The Eagles moved Campbell down to EDGE here and rushed 5. This leaves a 3 deep, 3 under coverage. Jalyx Hunt nearly gets home with a great rush, but Adoree Jackson gets badly beaten. There's no harm in losing a rep to Ceedee Lamb, but Jackson has outside leverage here and should be funneling Lamb inside, where he has safety help. He's not even close. Jackson wasn't competitive on way too many snaps in Week 1. It was pretty rough.

Sigh... Eagles' Offense All22 vs. Lions. 1) Going into this game, we all knew the Lions played the highest amount of man coverage reps in the league (with a lot of press man). Therefore, I wanted to see a lot of bunches, stacks, pick routes, etc. Instead, we got a lot (and lot) of curl routes against press coverage. Hurts throws with great anticipation, the timing is there, but the Lions' CB is all over the curl route. The Eagles' coaching staff makes everything so hard for their players.

AJ Brown & Mailata take out 3 defenders. Goedert does a good job and Saquon Barkley just does what he does best. He's a freak! The most impressive part is the cut inside after the spin. He makes it look so so easy.

Eagles Offense All22 Thread vs. Chiefs. 1) Oh, Calcaterra, we meet again. The Eagles dial up the shot play on the 1st play of the game and get a wide-open AJ Brown. Sadly, Calcaterra fails to pick up the rusher to his left and it's too difficult for Granson to get around, which wrecks the play. This is brutal. What a start it could have been!

3) I've got nothing else to say about the dropback game. In certain situations, it is genuinely embarrassing. Who designed this one? Can anyone tell me the point of this on 3rd down? This is 3rd and 8. I don't get how this is ever supposed to work vs zone coverage (or man, tbh). It's SO easy to cover. Barkley's release into the flat is late so Hurts can't even check it down, either. There is nothing a QB can do on plays like this. Burn this play. I'm sick of seeing these 2x2 routes where there are no answers against zone coverage. It's madness.

Eagles Offense All22 thread vs. Bucs. 1) It wasn't perfect all game, but I think we have now reached the point with Hurts where I don't fear the blitz at all. The progression this year has been obvious. He is fine with free rushers in his face and will stand and deliver. This was a big 3rd down conversion on the 1st drive. It's another area of his game where he has made significant improvements.

A quick Arnold Ebiketie thread... 1) He's an interesting watch because there are times when he looks elite, but others when I can't see the finishing burst required to sack the quarterback. He's a disruptive EDGE rusher with good arm length, and he can bend the edge, although doesn't have that elite closing burst to finish the rush.

Eagles' Offense All22 Thread vs. Chargers. 1) Ah, what could have been. The Eagles ran way more concepts this week, where they flooded one side of the field, which is good! No one is open here, so Hurts gets backside and plays buddy ball with AJ Brown. Sadly, AJ can't haul it in. It's unlike AJ not to make these tough catches, but he had a few rough drops in this one. This could have been a fantastic start. Sigh.

This is a fantastic vision by Barkley, who is playing at an incredibly high level. He does a great job to spot the cutback lane. The Eagles did not run play-action once from Jumbo personnel (11 total plays). We will get into that later.

I am perfectly fine with him reading one half of the field and taking off with his legs if nothing is open. Taking negative plays would have ruined this game plan. Hurts did a fantastic job keeping the offense on track throughout the game.

Eagles Offense All22 Thread vs. Broncos. 1) It only took me 3 plays to get annoyed. First 3rd down of the game. Everything's covered (which happens most of the time), but the 1 receiver who has a chance of coming open is Goedert. However, he decides to partly jog the end of the route, which means he can't get to the football. The Eagles need to get on their skill receivers about running every single rep hard. It's undeniable on film that they do not do this.

I thought there were some really good under center play-action designs after the first couple of drives. I love this concept, and it's executed well. Been watching a ton of Packers film of late... so here's a thread of somethings I expect to see from the Eagles next season. 1) This is classic Packers structure. Under-center play-action with the TE in the backfield opens a huge void in the intermediate middle of the field for that deep in. The QB has to hit his back foot and let it rip. That kind of easy middle-field access is something the Eagles have badly needed.
