4) Big yikes. I'm gonna defend Stowers and just say that if the Eagles wanted a TE to do this, then they shouldn't have drafted him. Because he can't kick out the edge in the run game. He gets shoved back into the running lane. When I'm studying tight ends blocking, I often focus on willingness and physical strength. I don't care as much about technique. This is just bad, though. He slows down before hitting the edge defender as if he's fearing the contact. Also, this is where I think Bell's height can hurt him, as he can't get leverage as easily and ends up blocking too high. Lampkin is once again finishing strong!

Eagles' Offense All22 vs. Rams thread. Buckle up. 1) After charting every 3rd down, this was the only one I put the blame on Hurts for. He should make this throw. He has a clean pocket and a receiver breaking over the middle of the field. Gotta have it.

Long one. Eagles' Offense All22 Thread vs. Titans. 1) The Eagles start off the game, in the most Eagles way imaginable. I laughed out loud of this. 2 TE, stacked box, failed run. Who saw that coming? Mundt falls over and gets destroyed (in quite amusing fashion). They are asking Goedert to get to the LB which he has no interest (or chance) in doing Steen/Kendall double team is messy, which means Jurgens can't get to the LB. Lane can't move his guy because he runs into Steen. It's just a calamity of errors.

Eagles Offense All22 vs. 49ers. For the last time this year, thank goodness. 1) The first play of the game. The Eagles shift AJ Brown into a tight split, bringing a defensive back into the box, who, of course, makes the tackle on Saquon Barkley. I was already worried about this film, but this didn't make me feel any better. It was a sign of things to come..

Eagles Defense All22 Thread Week 1 vs. Cowboys. 1) The Eagles moved Campbell down to EDGE here and rushed 5. This leaves a 3 deep, 3 under coverage. Jalyx Hunt nearly gets home with a great rush, but Adoree Jackson gets badly beaten. There's no harm in losing a rep to Ceedee Lamb, but Jackson has outside leverage here and should be funneling Lamb inside, where he has safety help. He's not even close. Jackson wasn't competitive on way too many snaps in Week 1. It was pretty rough.

We are back (sort of). Eagles Offense All22 vs. Ravens (Preseason). Will update as I watch. 1) Very obvious statement, but the Eagles won't be able to run this offense with a TE duo of Calcaterra (possibly lucky not to get flagged here) and Stowers. Stowers' usage in this game was sort of bizarre, but I'm telling myself it's preseason so I don't overreact. In better news, look at Markel Bell's recovery at RT here to stop the DL from blowing it up in the backfield. He has such odd movement traits for a big man. He looks huge!

2) Darius Cooper looked good, and his athleticism on this play stands out. He does a great job making the LB miss and creating extra yards after the catch. Also, how nice is it to see under center PA away from outside zone? Football doesn't always have to be complicated when you can run the ball...

Eagles Offense All22 vs. Washington. 1) Not a bad start, aye? It looks like Hurts audibles into under center crack toss which is something we haven't seen often! AJ Brown & Mailata take out 3 defenders. Goedert does a good job and Saquon Barkley just does what he does best. He's a freak! The most impressive part is the cut inside after the spin. He makes it look so so easy.

Eagles Offense All22 Thread vs. Chiefs. 1) Oh, Calcaterra, we meet again. The Eagles dial up the shot play on the 1st play of the game and get a wide-open AJ Brown. Sadly, Calcaterra fails to pick up the rusher to his left and it's too difficult for Granson to get around, which wrecks the play. This is brutal. What a start it could have been!

Very quick Eagles Offense/Defense All22 Thread vs. Bengals with some notes on the 53. 1) I didn't hate this Lemon route as much on the All22. He's never been a huge separator vs. press anyway, but I think he does a good job at the LOS beating the press and stacking the CB. At that point, I think he needs to do a better job faking that he is going inside rather than just looking inside, as the CB reads it all the way. Obviously, not an ideal first game, but I'm hardly panicking yet!

Eagles Offense All22 thread vs. Bucs. 1) It wasn't perfect all game, but I think we have now reached the point with Hurts where I don't fear the blitz at all. The progression this year has been obvious. He is fine with free rushers in his face and will stand and deliver. This was a big 3rd down conversion on the 1st drive. It's another area of his game where he has made significant improvements.

Eagles' Offense All22 Thread vs. Chargers. 1) Ah, what could have been. The Eagles ran way more concepts this week, where they flooded one side of the field, which is good! No one is open here, so Hurts gets backside and plays buddy ball with AJ Brown. Sadly, AJ can't haul it in. It's unlike AJ not to make these tough catches, but he had a few rough drops in this one. This could have been a fantastic start. Sigh.

Eagles Offense All22 thread vs. Packers. 1) The Eagles' run game was not good, but they did have some success from under center & jumbo personnel. This is a fantastic vision by Barkley, who is playing at an incredibly high level. He does a great job to spot the cutback lane. The Eagles did not run play-action once from Jumbo personnel (11 total plays). We will get into that later.

A quick Arnold Ebiketie thread... 1) He's an interesting watch because there are times when he looks elite, but others when I can't see the finishing burst required to sack the quarterback. He's a disruptive EDGE rusher with good arm length, and he can bend the edge, although doesn't have that elite closing burst to finish the rush.

Eagles Offense Super Bowl All22 vs. Chiefs. 1) I thought Hurts used his legs exceptionally well in this game. He looked fast. I am perfectly fine with him reading one half of the field and taking off with his legs if nothing is open. Taking negative plays would have ruined this game plan. Hurts did a fantastic job keeping the offense on track throughout the game.

Eagles Offense' All22 vs. Panthers. Get ready; it's bad. 1) The Eagles' pass protection plan (NOT individuals - but the scheme) was abysmal again in this game. This is the very first play of the game. Under-center play action, of course, and the Eagles leave a Panthers defender unblocked. What's new? The Panthers have 4 potential bltizers on their left. The Eagles ask the RB to block 2. I'm assuming Lampkin is supposed to pull and block the LB, but he seems to get confused and ends up helping out where he is not needed. Confusion on the very first play of the game is simply unacceptable. Nothing else to say. This team isn't serious.

Eagles Offense All22 Thread vs. Broncos. 1) It only took me 3 plays to get annoyed. First 3rd down of the game. Everything's covered (which happens most of the time), but the 1 receiver who has a chance of coming open is Goedert. However, he decides to partly jog the end of the route, which means he can't get to the football. The Eagles need to get on their skill receivers about running every single rep hard. It's undeniable on film that they do not do this.

Eagles' Offense All22 thread vs. Bills. Buckle up, I'm not happy. Let's start with the positives. I thought there were some really good under center play-action designs after the first couple of drives. I love this concept, and it's executed well. Brady pointed out that usually, you have 3 routes going the same way, but AJ Brown's route is a little bit of a tendency breaker. I thought AJ Brown caught the ball extremely well in tough conditions, and it shows how good he is. He was dominant at times yesterday.

Been watching a ton of Packers film of late... so here's a thread of somethings I expect to see from the Eagles next season. 1) This is classic Packers structure. Under-center play-action with the TE in the backfield opens a huge void in the intermediate middle of the field for that deep in. The QB has to hit his back foot and let it rip. That kind of easy middle-field access is something the Eagles have badly needed.
