"This company (Vapi) is on fire right now." – Gustaf Alströmer, Partner at Y Combinator. Two years ago, if you’d told me that Gustaf would be sharing Vapi’s success story on the YC podcast, I wouldn’t have believed you. At the time, things weren’t going our way. We were two years post-YC, but the idea we raised our seed round on—a button to make joining online meetings—had settled into a lifestyle business. We were back in Canada, working 9-5, and feeling like we weren’t reaching our full potential as founders. Then, we had that pivotal conversation with Michael Seibel. His advice? Move back to SF and start fresh. It was a massive leap of faith, but we did it. We made a bold pivot, built Vapi from the ground up, and today, we couldn’t be more excited to see everything finally clicking into place. Fun fact: When we launched our first product, Gustaf was our very first customer—paying $20 to use our button. He’s been a huge supporter from day one. Thank you, Gustaf!
