Just learned that 13-year-old David Raymond, the sole survivor of the attack that claimed his entire family in Kawel village, Bokkos LGA, Plateau State on June 22, has succumbed to his injuries after fighting for his life for 18 days in the hospital 😭💔😭💔 In the early hours of Monday, June 22, 2026, 13-year-old David Raymond became one of the latest young victims of Christian persecution in Nigeria’s Plateau State. For 18 days, he fought for his life in a hospital bed, after surviving an AK-47 bullet that tore through his back and stomach, leaving his intestines exposed. David survived an attack that wiped out his family because of their faith. While surgeons worked through sunrise to save him, his father, Raymond Maichibi, 40, and mother, Nanlop Raymond, 37, were laid to rest in a mass grave with 20 other Christians from their village. His relatives, devastated by the loss, could not find the strength to tell David that he was now an orphan till he passed around 1800hrs GMT on Friday July 10th. Prior to his death, David recounted that he was asleep when armed assailants broke into their home in Kawel village, Mushere district, Bokkos LGA. “They came in the night,” he said from his hospital bed. “My father tried to protect me and they shot him. My mother was hiding in the bedroom when they shot her too. I ran, and they shot me in the back.” Though he did not see their faces, David recognized the Fulani dialect spoken by the attackers. Equipping The Persecuted was exclusively responsible for his treatment, and did everything possible to save his life, but unfortunately, the injuries were too severe for him. You can still help to cover his outstanding bills and support other survivors of the attack in Kawel and other parts of Nigeria’s north by visiting and choosing a donation plan that works for you and your family. Three-year-old Mary David lost vision in one eye after a machete attack during a terrorist raid that killed eleven people in her village near Jos, Plateau State last April. When automatic gunfire erupted in Mgbrazongwo just after midnight, her family of four was forced to scatter. Mary and her brother were left for dead with critical machete wounds. Equipping The Persecuted covered medical bills for Mary, her brother, and ten other survivors. Yet many still struggle to afford food and medicine for their healing wounds. If you'd like to help, visit and choose a donation plan that works for you and your family. Thank you, and God bless you for supporting these little ones and others facing ongoing persecution in Nigeria.

TERROR ALERT – July 1, 2026 Equipping The Persecuted has received credible information indicating that the Islamist Fulani Ethnic Militia may be preparing coordinated attacks against Christian communities in Benue and Plateau States. Communities believed to be at greatest risk include Agatu, Guma, Otukpo, and Ohimini LGAs in Benue State, as well as vulnerable communities in Jos South and Barkin Ladi LGAs in Plateau State. According to credible information received from multiple ground sources, militant fighters have reportedly been mobilized from several northern states, and preparations for a large-scale offensive may already be underway. We urge Christian communities, local leaders, village security teams, churches, and the Nigerian security services to remain on the highest level of alert and take immediate precautions to protect vulnerable civilians. Equipping The Persecuted has repeatedly issued advance warnings that have preceded deadly attacks. We pray these warnings are acted upon before more innocent lives are lost. Donald J. The persecution of Christians in Nigeria is real. When the young schoolgirl from Plateau State stepped into her compound yesterday, she found her world gone — her father, mother, and siblings laid in a truck, about to be buried after terrorists raided her village. 25 Christians have been killed in the last 2 days.
