Ben Goertzel believes an 82-year-old could take a daily pill and get back the body they had at 30. He says this'll happen in 2-4 years. He says getting old is just our body's cells slowly wearing out, not a fixed rule of nature. Scientists have already discovered old cells can turn young again in a lab. The missing piece is only a mind smart enough to plan the repair for all 37 trillion cells in the human body. Goertzel believes a super-smart AI will do exactly that. I asked 4 longevity experts; "Over the next 5 years, which therapeutic wins?" Kaeberlein ranked them in this order: 1) Rapamycin 2) Plasma dilution 3) Senolytics 4) Partial reprogramming 5) NAD boosters Rapamycin tops it because it has the best, most reproducible data by far. Is biological aging actually reversible? De Grey believes it will eventually be possible. Kaeberlein is the complete opposite: "I think it's almost impossible, if not impossible, to completely reverse biological aging." His reason is simple. "You can't reverse entropy." When I asked Derya Unutmaz "What's the best piece of advice you've ever received", he gave me two answers. The first was what his father told him: "Be careful about one thing in life. How comfortable you are. If you are too comfortable, then you should really worry." When you're comfortable, you become complacent. When you're complacent, you stop evolving. The second came from watching Steve Job's Stanford speech, and is actually related to the first: "Stay hungry, stay foolish." Stay foolish so you never stop wondering, no matter how much you think you know.
