DIPLOMACY, POWER, AND PERCEPTION Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s remarks reflect the tone of a global power calling others to account. While superpowers often act from a position of authority, they also seek to project commitment to democracy, neutrality, and respect for national sovereignty. If #Rwanda has any involvement in eastern DRC, it would more plausibly stem from strategic interest rather than irrationality. Effective diplomacy, therefore, lies not in moral grandstanding but in calibrated rhetoric that acknowledges realities on the ground. Washington is more likely to achieve lasting outcomes by recognizing Kigali not as a marginal actor, but as a key partner and influential stakeholder, one whose engagement is essential to any genuine and sustainable resolution of the eastern #DRC conflict.

CELEBRATING A JOURNEY OF EDUCATION AND RESILIENCE In 2014, Renatha Muragijimana worked as a maid in my home in Niboye, Kicukiro, at just 14 years old. Upon discovering she wasn't attending school due to financial constraints, I offered to support her education. With my assistance, she completed secondary school with flying colors and earned government sponsorship to Rwanda Polytechnic (IPRC Kicukiro). Today, after overcoming family challenges rooted in the aftermath of the genocide, Renatha graduates with a diploma in Creative Arts, specializing in Fashion and Design. Her journey exemplifies resilience and determination. As she steps into the future, empowered to support herself and her family, she embodies the spirit of a unified and thriving Rwanda.
