On the eve of the #IMFMeetings, I joined IMF colleagues, the Thai authorities and thaisosfoodrescue in supporting the Bo Farang community in Bangkok 🇹🇭. So inspired by the residents' resilience and by a simple truth: investing in people expands opportunity for all.

It was a privilege to welcome President Ahmad al-Sharaa to the IMF. We discussed the economic transformation Syrians need & deserve—which his government is making possible. I reiterated IMF's readiness to help including through our existing technical support for key institutions.

In an unforgiving global environment that leaves no room for self-inflicted injuries, I urge authorities to slash red tape, get rid of obsolete rules, and free up the power of entrepreneurship. Full speech:

Our economies are too interconnected to go it alone. Even in a more fragmented world, cooperation on shared challenges remains essential & firmly in every country’s interest. We must keep creating space for dialogue & practical solutions. Watch my speech:

Congratulations to India on a successful #G20 presidency. Its theme of "one earth, one family, one future" resonated with global leaders, who reached an important consensus on ways to address the global challenges confronting us. My takeaways from 🇮🇳's successful G20 United States summit.

I’m counting down the weeks to our Annual Meetings in Bangkok this October. Echoing Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Ekniti Nitithanprapas, we’ll bring the world together to discuss the challenges we all face—and the practical solutions we need.#IMFMeetings

Thailand's greatest strength is its people—their creativity, ingenuity, and entrepreneurial spirit. As we look ahead to the Annual Meetings, I'm inspired by how investing in people, innovation, and opportunity can help build a more resilient and prosperous future.

There are forces we cannot control. But we can control our policies. Strong fundamentals, resilient institutions, and sound policy choices are the best defense against shocks and the key to sustainable growth. From my Spring Meetings speech in April:

As I shared with students in Argentina, AI can boost growth & productivity, but it will also transform jobs. With about 40% of jobs worldwide affected, the challenge is helping young people gain the skills & adaptability needed to thrive. Thank you Lara López Calvo for moderating.

One of my favorite summer traditions is meeting participants of the IMF Teen Summer Program. Their questions are thoughtful, their perspectives fresh, and their optimism contagious.
