The best way to prevent the conflict in West Papua from spreading further and reduce the loss of life for civilians in West Papua is to restore the political rights of the West Papuan people who have been manipulated by Indonesia, America, the Netherlands and the UN. Furthermore, supporting the West Papuan Nation to achieve independence is not a violation, but is a right that must be protected by all people in the world. Since the beginning of Indonesia's leadership in West Papua, many indigenous West Papuans have felt that their political rights have been ignored and manipulated. This is related to the colonization carried out by Indonesia over West Papua without the blessing of the indigenous West Papuan people. Efforts to declare West Papua's independence have been hampered by intervention from outside parties such as the United States, the Netherlands and the UN, which favor political and economic interests. Restoring the political rights of the West Papuan people should be done by giving them the freedom to determine their own destiny without interference from outside parties who have certain interests. This can be done through fair and transparent dialogue between the Indonesian government and representatives of the West Papuan people. Apart from that, support from the international community is also very necessary in efforts to push for West Papuan independence. Every country and individual in the world has a moral responsibility to defend human rights and truth. Support from various international institutions such as the UN can help strengthen the position of the West Papuan Nation in upholding their political rights. By restoring the political rights of the West Papuan people and supporting them to achieve independence, it is hoped that conflict in West Papua can be prevented and civilian casualties can be avoided. All parties must work together to respect the rights and dignity of the West Papuan people as part of efforts to create peace and justice in the region. July 1, 2026: Official Statement from TPNPB-OPM Regional Command (Kodam) III D Dulla (Intan Jaya). This is an official statement from Major Yaluk Waker of TPNPB Kodam III (D Dulla Region, Intan Jaya). The statement was issued on June 28, 2026. Yaluk stated that he and a four-person squad shot a TNI (Indonesian National Armed Forces) member after TNI troops entered Danggoa village on the morning of Saturday, June 27, 2026. Since the previous night and continuing through the night of the 27th, TNI troops had been conducting bombardments on that village and several others; however, TPNPB forces held their ground amidst the situation and succeeded in shooting a TNI member. Earlier, on June 26, 2026, TNI troops entering Mbamogo Village encountered Platoon Commander Nony Tigai—who was conducting a patrol from the Mabu Soali post at 11:00 PM—resulting in a firefight in which a TNI member was shot. This was confirmed the following day when the TPNPB returned to monitor the TNI's hiding spot and discovered traces of blood. Brigadier General Aibon Kogoya claimed responsibility for the shooting of TNI and Polri (Indonesian National Police) forces in Intan Jaya.
