![“It can be a disappointing end to the day, but can you take some consolation in thinking you were the quicker Mercedes car today?” Kimi: “I think we were quickest on track today. Okay Lewis at the end, he was very quick, but second stint we were super quick. […] And by the way, I'm very happy for him, for his win. It's good to see that he got his first win with Ferrari. But on my side, yeah, very disappointing. I feel a bit empty, to be fair, right now. But at the same time, these things happen. Happens to everyone and the most important is to come back stronger.”](https://image.24vids.com/tw-2066184423016374520/amplify_video_thumb/2066184066731216896/img/AaKKG9Ci7mYKu0z_.jpg)

“So it was a wheel shield problem. You hit the curb?” Kimi: “I hit the curb like every lap. That lap I probably hit it less even than previous laps. And I could feel instantly something broke. And I just didn't know what was going on. And also the team was trying to understand. Initially, we thought it was the front wing, but then it wasn't the front wing. Yeah, just didn't didn't go our way. And it was a shame because I think we had a real shot for the win today. It's one extra motivation to be back stronger and to do even better.”

“the gap is now 43 points, which was bigger than it ever was between Lando and Oscar last year. Do you think you’ve got a bit of breathing space now?” Kimi: “Yeah, but to be fair, I’m not thinking about the championship. I’m just focusing on race by race. I think it’s still very, very early to talk about that. And of course now I have this gap, but that doesn’t mean that I can relax and just take it easier. Instead, I need to keep leveling up and keep raising the bar because it’s not going to be easy and competitors are getting closer and also George is super super quick. so definitely I’m just gonna try to focus on myself and enjoy the driving and trying to really drive as fast as possible.”

Kimi: “today it had to go this way unfortunately. I couldn't even get one point, when things looked like I was still going to be able to get one point, safety car came out, and I got the penalty, I mean it's okay if you get track limit by going off and gaining but I couldn't keep the car on track in that instance. So I was trying my best to stay on track, but I just couldn't. But then after the last pit stop, the car felt kind of drivable, I would say. I was still missing probably, I don't know how many points of downforce. The car wasn't turning in the right corners, not at all. But yeah, I still think that I could get P10 today, at least one point but couldn't even get that.”
