Noor Jehan, the legendary Pakistani singer and actress, made a historic visit to India in 1982, her first since the 1947 partition, to attend the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Indian talkie films. She was received by renowned Indian figures including Dilip Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Suraiya, Pran, and composer Naushad. She performed at the “Mortal Men, Immortal Melodies" concert in Mumbai. Introduced by Dilip Kumar, she sang iconic songs, among which she also performed, ‘Awaz dey kahan hey – film Anmol Ghadi - 1946. Penned by Tanvir Naqvi, its music was composed by Naushad. The hero of the movie and singer of the song, Surendra, was also present and had tears in his eyes. Maestro Naushad was there too with the orchestra. It was truly a historic moment.

Of the legendary duo Laxmikant–Pyarelal, Laxmikant Kudalkar is no more, while Pyarelal Sharma still lives, carrying the memory of that golden era of music.
