There's no need to sugarcoat it. The 49ers WRs were dogsh*t blockers last year. It's part of the reason CMC had the fourth-fewest yards before contact. Too many times he had to evade a second-level defender at or behind the line. Lane Kiffin used Stribling as a FB and an in-line TE at times in high-leverage situations as the primary lead blocker. That tells you everything you need to know. Here are some clips of him competing as a blocker and after the catch.

Inverted Cover 2, another curveball from Saleh. Instead of the safeties responsible for the deep halves, the corners are. Watch Sigle's recognition. He sees the TE eliminate himself underneath and finds the lone deep threat before the ball is released. Then you see the speed.

I don't either. I'll use Malachi Lawrence's game from Cincy to change it up. There are too many exposures of his momentum coming to a screeching halt on contact. That's not the player that's winning in today's NFL. Fires up instead of out, so he's losing the leverage game from the jump. That's why it looks like he's playing on skates at the point of contact. His athleticism pops when it's time to chase but I'm not sure he can run the hoop. Questions about bend/flexibility. I'm always skeptical of prospects who get the postseason bump when zero games have been played. He was in the 100s on big boards in January. Ran and jumped like a cyborg and now we're talking 1st round.

Here's 8 plays of Walter Nolen vs. Georgia, who should have their entire IOL drafted within the first 100 picks, playing on the other side of the line of scrimmage, winning at the snap, and working down the LOS to finish plays. fwiw PFF gave Nolen an 80.8 grade in this game.

Using Gracen Halton vs. Michigan as an example. My biggest hold up with him was standing his ground consistently against double teams. Thought he was more of a pass rush specialist than an every down player. But that's where Collins/West come in so I can see the vision. His game is the opposite color flashing and moving the QB off hs spot. Halton led all DTs in this class in pressure/true/quick pressure %. Halton's 40, vertical, and broad were in the 90th percentiles One of his athletic comps: Javon Hargrave

This was Brock Purdy's best game. Not from a box score standpoint, but he ran out of countless sacks and bailed the offense out on third down numerous times. Some of his best decisions were throwaways. He had 7 throwaways in the game, matching his season total. It wasn't a great game for the 49ers WRs or the running game. That meant Purdy would need to make plays while playing within himself on obvious passing downs. He did. On 3rd & 5 or longer, from the two-minute drill on, Purdy went 6-for-8 with five first downs and a TD in a windy road game vs. a top 5 passing defense. Here are 5 of those third down throws. Quality bounce back after last week.

The 49ers are 32nd in net yards per punt. Here's how 5 players releasing to the left tells me the punt needs to be inside the numbers, where the coverage is. If you miss, err on the side of going out of bounds, not to the MOF 3 players fall. Returner goes untouched for 55 yards
