This is becoming unbearable as we are approaching the peak #oliveridley nesting season. 21 carcasses found in #kovalam alone today morning. Illegal trawling wreaking havoc and #TamilNadu govt machinery is just watching. Yesterday, fisheries dept received information on ray fish net deployed at Alamparaikuppam, which is a notorious fishing village, and an estimated 100 turtles allegedly got entangled. So far, no action is taken. Trawling, use of gill nets & ray fish nets are strictly prohibited with 5 nautical miles.
