Kenyans, how much do we hate ourselves that we demonise our capacity to locally manufacture goods? How much do we hate our young people that we'd rather export these jobs to India and China and not have them here in Kenya? How much do we hate ourselves for allowing resources to go to other countries and not to our own manufacturers? Last year, the House made two difficult decisions(Finance Act 2023): 1. imposing import duty and exercise duty on imported furniture; and this resulted to local manufacturing and assembling of furniture. This means creation of more jobs for our young people. 2. We zero-rated local assembly of mobile phones and as a result we are producing 400,000 phones everyday for the external market. It demonstrates giving tax incentives to manufacturers leads to growth of local manufacturing and promotes the Buy Kenya, Build Kenya. #FinanceBill2024 #Molo #KKSeasonTwo

Moving fuel from the current 8% VAT to VAT-exempt will not lower fuel prices. If fuel becomes VAT-exempt, oil marketers would not recover some of the VAT costs incurred along the supply chain. Those costs would then be added to the final pump price. That means moving fuel from 8% VAT to VAT-exempt could actually make fuel more expensive for Kenyans. #FinanceBill2026 #KKSeason3Loading #Molo

I am glad that the National Assembly has approved the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal (Amendment) Bill, which I sponsored. Going forward, contracts below Ksh 1Billion will ONLY be awarded to local contractors. For contracts over ksh 1Billion, international firms will have to enter into joint ventures with local firms for them to be awarded contracts. This will ensure that our local firms benefit through capacity building and technology transfer from the international firms. Historically, Kenyan firms have been sidelined, and therefore, the Bill will ensure that local entrepreneurs are given a chance to compete effectively. Issues of delayed payment will be a thing of the past as the Bill seeks to provide efficient contractor payment, enabling a more vibrant entrepreneurship ecosystem and cashflow for sustaining economic activities. Overall, the Bill seeks to address the inefficiencies in the public procurement systems while promoting transparency and accountability. Most importantly, the Bill will empower local contractors and ensure their competitiveness by curbing monopolies and unfair competition. This will enhance inclusive growth for our local contractors. The Bill embodies our commitment to fostering economic inclusivity, promoting local enterprises, and ensuring public procurement serves as a strategic tool for national development. #KKSeason3Loading #Molo

We have successfully concluded the public participation exercise across all the 30 counties. As the Committee embarks on the report, writing process, every submission and perspective will be considered in the spirit of inclusivity and the national interest. We extend our sincere appreciation to all Kenyans who took part and generously shared their views. #kkseason3loading #Molo

I strongly support our President H.E William Samoei Ruto, PhD's move to nominate The ODM Party members to cabinet in a move to create a broad-based government. We want a government of national unity. Those in ODM and opposition are taxpayers; they have a right to be part and parcel of this government and have a stake in running the affairs of our country. #KKSeasonTwo #Molo

The cancellation of Adani deals by H.E. President William Samoei Ruto, PhD is very much welcome. We even have an amendment to the Public Procurement and Disposal Amendment Bill that gives priority to Kenyan firms when privatization or tendering occurs in Kenya. This is on the floor of the House. The President has also proven that this is an accountable government, a government that listens to its people, and that their views count. #KKSeason3Loading #StateOfTheNationAddress #SOTN2024 #Molo

THE TRUTH IS, the #FinanceBill2024 proposes to increase pension payments to be tax-exempt from 20,000 to 30,000 for our salaried people. Rejection of the Bill means that the pension contributions to take care of us when we get old won't be tax-exempt and therefore Kenyans would be worse off. THESE ARE THE FACTS! #Molo #KKSeasonTwo
