Here is video of Rory's full quotes on Bryson and the ruling. On the actual penalty: "I think there's no doubt that he improved the line of his backswing. Again, it's like, whether it was careless or whether it was intentional, I don't think it matters. Hopefully it was careless, but I think the two-shot penalty was justified for sure." Added this on everything that played out after the round: "I won't pretend to be up here and defend Bryson. I'm not particularly fond of him. I think a lot of it's performative. I think a lot of it's for attention. "To hold the tournament hostage like that, and to have all of us, players, volunteers, everyone waiting on him to depart, I didn't feel like it was a great look." When asked if he thinks Bryson knew what he was doing: "I'm not in his mind. I'm not in his -- but it didn't look good."

There are 1 million things to critique during these cup weeks. Some are probably fair, others are probably unfair. This piqued my interest from the Saturday presser, though. Sometimes it feels like the U.S. side is being asked to show its work on a specific problem, and all they have is a fairly unsatisfying answer.

Scottie is so unique because of how much he clearly cares about being great but also how little he has allowed that object of his desire overwhelm the rest of his life to the point that golf has completely consumed him. I don't really understand how he's able to balance this so well, but emotional moments like this make it pretty clear that he is.
