I was pleased to present my Palestine Statehood (Recognition) Bill in Parliament today, as I have done every session since being elected. The only way to end the ceaseless violence is through a two-state solution. And a two-state solution requires just that - two states.

The Tories botched Brexit deal has left us £90 billion worse per year. The Lib Dems have a plan for a Customs Union with the EU that would bring around £25 billion to the economy. The Lib Dems will bring a vote on this next week and I hope Labour backbenchers will support us.

I am desperately worried for my extended family in Gaza City. They have no electricity, no water, no food, and now a sniper is inside the Church compound where they are sheltering. My family are not collateral damage. We need an immediate bilateral ceasefire now.

Today I lost the first member of my extended family in Gaza. The Liberal Democrats have been consistently on the side of humanity and peace. We couldn't vote for our full position today. This evening I tried to ask the speaker to bring people together. Sadly I was cut short.

These are only civilians in this church. They are only admitting Christians who are known to the community. They have nothing to do with Hamas. I plea to the Israeli Government to leave them alone. They haven't hurt anybody. I'm not sure they're going to survive the week.

My extended family are in Gaza City. Their house was bombed and they are now seeking sanctuary in a church. They can't leave, they have nowhere to go. Today I asked the Prime Minister when he said "never again" if he meant it.

UK recognition of the State of Palestine was a promise made to my great grandfather decades ago. While on its own, recognition won’t solve anything without further action, it is a down payment on peace. Today we have just a little more hope, and hope is contagious.

Nada, an Oxford plastic surgeon, told me stories of children in Gaza suffering wounds, which without care will lead to life-changing injuries. I pushed the Government to work to establish a humanitarian corridor from Gaza to the West Bank for those injured to access treatment.

Speaking on Peston, the elephant in the room is the government failing to consider a customs union with the EU. We lost 4% of GDP from the Conservative's botched deal, billions that we could have access to. The world has changed, we should have a different conversation.

Ofwat is a busted regulator with no teeth whatsoever. That’s why the Liberal Democrats will replace it with a Clean Water Authority and spend £10M to recruit sewage inspectors. This would stop water companies from marking their own homework and mean real consequences for sewage dumping.
