Thank you to the Prime Minister Keir Starmer for recognising the hard work of myself & other campaigners pushing for change. Great to see our calls taken forward on compelling offenders to attend sentencing, safeguarding children of sex offenders and fast-tracking rape cases.

Lost in yesterday's many announcements was a significant win for the OpenJusticeForAll campaign. I'm so pleased to have worked alongside so many inspirational people to secure access to FREE transcripts for rape and sexual offence victims. A huge step forward for open justice.

Pleased that this week, Government brought in measures that I had called for in the London Stalking Review, to better protect stalking victims. Great to speak with Times Radio about why change was needed, the impact of these measures, and what more needs to be done.

The stalking law places far too much onus on victims to evidence the impact. Victims must show they are fearful to obtain the right charge or conviction. This gratifies the stalker and proves their success. The law punishes victims who resist the stalkers oppressive behaviour.

At today’s London Policing Board, the Commissioner and I discussed the impact of court backlogs on victims. New figures show an 11% rise in a year to nearly 77,000 cases. The system is failing too many. We urgently need the reforms soon to be recommended by Sir Brian Leveson.

Great to see many measures I have campaigned for included in Govt’s Victims and Courts Bill. Emotional day too, as I promised the families of Sabina Nessa, Zara Aleena & Jan Mustafa that I would help them end the injustice of offenders refusing to attend sentencing & we did it!

We are pushing rape victims out of the justice process by requesting their personal records, such as therapy notes. The measures in this Bill do not go far enough to tackle this. We need judicial oversight and independent legal advice #keepcounsellingconfidential #victimslaw
