According to accounts, the disturbing claim is that during this period, any girl found outside is at risk of being sexually assaulted and/or raped. This is all beyond disturbing - it is a mass coordinated crime. In a world that claims to be civilized, there should be no "festival" where sexual violence is planned and carried out in broad daylight. This is not culture. This is not tradition. This is organised sexual violence, and it must be treated as such. Foreigners who are unaware of this situation have reportedly fallen victim as well. There is Delta State University in Ozoro, too, and many female students may not be fully aware of the danger. Apparently, though, the Delta State Police have now stepped in and have launched an investigation. Fingers crossed, this is true - a totally necessary first step towards ending this barbarity.

According to reports, an immigration judge had previously ordered him to be deported, but the Biden administration granted him Temporary Protected Status (TPS), which expired in 2024. ICE has placed a detainer on him.
