"There are some people in your org who are doing way more exploring than others. They are your early adopters. They're running Astra and Fable on the weekends on personal projects, to find things they might bring to work. The problem is that they can be a massive f*cking distraction. So the key question to ask yourself if you're running a product org is: how do I harness these early adopters without distracting everybody else?" Dan Shipper

Grok Grok Bot is the hottest new AI product in the world right now. I'm absolutely hooked. It all started a few months ago as a tiny team holed up in a separate part of the office, building from scratch. Four weeks after the first line of code, the whole company was obsessed. Three weeks later, it launched to the world. Less than a month in, millions of Grok Bots are already helping people get work done. Roman Ugarte (Roman Ugarte) incubated, launched, and now leads product for Grok Bot. This is the first time he's told the story: 🔸 Why they started fresh instead of building it into Cursor 🔸 The two non-obvious bets that made it such a success 🔸 What they learned from manually onboarding the first 200–300 users 🔸 Why they spent the weeks before launch *unshipping* features 🔸 The first prompt to try when you open it Watch the full episode right here on X 👇

"I like was trying to get a 1:1 with Nikita Bier. He reported up into me btw. I couldn't get him to agree. So I was like, dude, if you don't f*cking answer my DMs, I'm going to go on Intro and book you so I can just have a 1:1 with you right now. Luckily, it didn't get to that." 😅

Linear CEO Karri Saarinen: "I took a break this summer from paying attention to AI. I thought that when I came back, I'd feel left behind. But when I came back, I realized that nothing has really changed. There's new models, there's new techniques, there's new agents. But in the end, making great products, increasing revenue, and building the business—it's still hard. It's clear the tools are getting better, you can do more, you can do it faster. But I think the more important question is: are we actually making better things with these tools? Are our teams getting better with these tools? I don't think that answer is clearly yes. There's a lot of emphasis now on toolmaking and using tools and building systems. But I think in the end, as product people, our job is to make something great."

"Using coding agents well is taking every inch of my 25 years of experience as a software engineer, and it is mentally exhausting. I can fire up four agents in parallel and have them work on four different problems, and by 11am I am wiped out for the day. There is a limit on human cognition. Even if you're not reviewing everything they're doing, how much you can hold in your head at one time. There's a sort of personal skill that we have to learn, which is finding our new limits. What is a responsible way for us to not burn out, and for us to use the time that we have?" Simon Willison

Fable is really good at launch videos It essentially one-shotted this video. I told it to read my launch post and create a launch video. That's it. It ran for 46 minutes (without asking me any questions), found all the product logos, and spit this out. I then asked it to add music, so it logged into my ElevenLabs account within my Chrome, generated the music, and mixed it in. Wild.

.Josh Woodward: "Every company right now needs a set of people who's job is to be at the frontier. You want people plugged into the hive mind. They're the people who have eight $200/month subscriptions on everything. You have to architect your organization where this can exist."

One of my favorite lessons from Robby Stein's talk: "People say the PM's main craft is that you do lots of things pretty well. That is somewhat true. But above all else, the craft of PM is one simple thing: decision-making. You should be students of what it takes to make great decisions."

Cursor has spent its entire existence competing with every major AI lab and incumbent in the toughest market in tech—and has continued to win. So much so that Elon Musk bought them for $60 billion to help SpaceX win the AI race. They've done this by building one of the most talent-dense teams in history. Adam Ward (Adam Ward) is Head of Talent at Cursor—who acquired his legendary recruiting firm after he spent 20+ years building the most elite teams in tech—and in our conversation he shares the entire playbook for building high talent-density teams. We discuss: 🔸 Why the traditional recruiting funnel—the "funnel of doom"—guarantees mediocre hiring 🔸 Adam's three-step playbook for hiring the top 1% 🔸 The rise of the forward-deployed engineer 🔸 Today's "tale of two cities" talent market 🔸 The biggest mistake founders make with their first recruiting hire 🔸 The worst question you can ask when sourcing talent (you've definitely asked it) Watch the full episode right here 👇
