Let’s be clear: Bill C-9, The Combatting Hate Act, is the anti-hate legislation that communities and law enforcement across Canada are asking for. Our government remains willing to work across the aisle to look for constructive improvements to this Bill. What we will not accept are endless delays and Conservative tactics designed to dodge a vote on this bill. I made a promise to my constituents to stand up for them and pass laws to fight back against hate immediately. Canadians want action- it’s time for Conservative members to get on board.

For everyone anxious to see progress on fighting hate in our communities and crime across the country, this type of delay is unacceptable: Conservative Andrew Lawton is filibustering the Justice Committee and demanding weeks of delay to our C-9 hate crime bill. No one should accept these partisan games. Let’s move this bill forward NOW.

The Jewish community in Toronto–St. Paul’s has faced immense pain and fear since October 7th, with a rise in antisemitism at home. It’s unacceptable. As your MP, I’ll fight to ensure families feel safe, confront hatred, and protect schools, community centres, and synagogues.
