The fact that the Trash Taste podcast (Gigguk, CDawgVA, and TheAnimeMan) couldn’t immediately recognize that One Piece is a DEEPLY political series is VERY concerning when it comes to media literacy. You don’t need Hasanabi to point it out, anyone with basic reading comprehension could see it. 😭 That said, I doubt they’re actually that oblivious, it feels more like they’re choosing to deny it for whatever reason. Maybe it explains Joey’s response to me essentially saying anime is not that deep / political.
