I spoke extensively with someone who worked on Concord, and it's so much worse than you think. It was internally referred to as "The Future of PlayStation" with Star Wars-like potential, and a dev culture of "toxic positivity" halted any negative feedback. Making it cost $400m.

My favorite part of yesterday's Sacred Streaming was my five minute rant on the World Cup and how insane soccer's timekeeping system is. It's nonsensical and absurd to such an extreme degree that it feels like a conspiracy against me, specifically, that so few people agree.

The reality is this: Many game 'pundits' and 'analysts' believed every word Xbox executives fed them. They cheered on -- and often encouraged -- consolidation without a critical eye to the many downstream consequences. I took an enormous amount of abuse, but I was totally right.

Xbox is now a third-party publisher, the biggest on PlayStation. How did this happen? It's simple: Microsoft flew too close to the sun. Buying Activision destroyed its exclusives ecosystem. Now, it'll rely on Sony and Nintendo to drive future revenue forevermore. Crazy stuff.

I'm 75 hours into Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and it's amazing. Truly. But there's a problem: It's way too long, a common problem with recent years' great AAAs, from RDR2 to TLoU2. AAA games should be tailored experiences, not lifestyles choices. Leave the bloat to A/AA & GaaS.

PS5 Pro's lack of a disc drive is upsetting to some, but it's more-so a reminder of presentday reality. 80% of EA's sales are digital. 90% for Capcom. And so on. If you're using discs on a console this generation, more power to you. Just accept you're a relic from a bygone era.

The video game 'culture war' continues to be largely occupied by people who aren't frankly intellectually equipped for... well... seemingly anything at all. They should leave the finer complexities to people with IQs higher than room temperature. It's embarrassing at this point.

It's true that Horizon: Zero Dawn and Forbidden West have sold a combined ~35 million copies across PS4, PS5, and PC. An insane success story. It's also true that everyone seems to hate Horizon. As a huge fan of the IP myself, I must admit that it feels awfully lonely out here.

No, Sweet Baby Inc. didn't 'extort' Game Science for $7 million to work on Black Myth: Wukong. How do I know? Because even $200 million games don't spend that on consultants. It's an absurd claim. I knew the story was fake the second I saw it. Stop believing everything you read.

The Helldivers 2-to-Xbox rumor begs a question: What could PlayStation possibly gain by selling in an ecosystem with cratering hardware sales and an audience that buys few games? Why throw a lifeline to a struggling competitor? Why create PR and marketing issues for low revenue?

Major changes to Xbox's Game Pass prove what we've long said: It doesn't work as-is. Period. A bigger story for our show is Sony stumbling into a superior Game Pass Standard analogue with PS+ Extra that's cheaper, has more and better games, and doesn't sacrifice the core model.

With PlayStation 6-related reporting circulating, a listener inquired how Sony may calibrate itself to compete with Xbox next-gen. My answer is: It's doubtful Sony continues to maintain focus on a competitor that has done such a continuously poor job of meaningfully showing up.

Stellar Blade surpassed a million copies sold on PS5, a great success for Shift Up's provocative action game. And to its detractors: Capcom can sell 2-3 million copies of Street Fighter 6 and Dragon's Dogma 2 on multiple consoles and be a success, but this isn't? If you say so!

Gaming and politics are deeply intertwined, from labor and manufacture to trade and regulation. We never shy away from that. What we won't do is endorse candidates or parties. Partisan politics represent the antithesis of natural inclusivity, and alienates instead of welcomes.
