Throw in a bespectacled host with weird patchy grey hair and no, it’s not the weirdest ever reboot of the Spice Girls – it is in fact season eight of The Louis Theroux Podcast. Every now and then we decide to host an actual genius on the podcast… And so, Yorgos Lanthimos - chilly vivisector of the human animal, hierophant of our mortal mysteries, black comedian, and garlanded director… From Dogtooth to The Lobster, The Favorite, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, Poor Things and most recently Bugonia, he has focused his unflinching artistic eye on the dark absurdity of sublunary life. Boom-boom Becker was his nickname, so-called for his hard-hitting forehand shots. In life he’s had his ups and downs - including a stint in Wandsworth prison.
