This is crazy. Two USGA quotes. Read them in order. John Spitzer, USGA Managing Director of Equipment Standards (see video below): "...equipment plays a very very small role in this. The increases that we see at the PGA Tour level are almost entirely due to the player himself." The USGA's Distance Insight Conclusions document, page 3: "this assessment should not focus on player-related factors that contribute to increased distance, such as improved athleticism and swing techniques... we expect the main topic for research and assessment to be potential changes in the Equipment Rules." The USGA's own equipment standards director said that since equipment regulations went into effect in 2004 the player is basically the entire reason for distance gains. The USGA however decided to exclude the player from the assessment and aimed the rule changes at equipment.... ... even through their own director of equipment said equipment plays a "very very small role" in distance gains.

This shot is INSANE. It is WAY better than Cam Smith’s putt around the road hole bunker. This is Riccardo Fantinelli from Princeton Men’s golf on the 17th hole at St Andrews Jubilee course. We are here for the St Andrews Collegiate Golf tournament. I was standing next to him for this shot. Pretty cool to have a front row seat for this one. He was about 90 feet from the hole if you are keeping score at home.

Amazing answer. Total class. Easy to see why Bryson has become such a fan favorite.

How are you playing this shot? I found myself in this pickle. This is a par 4 and this pitch shot is for birdie. Details: ➡️Ball is sitting down ➡️Hard to tell but ball is on BIG downslope ➡️~15 yards to hole ➡️~5 yards of green to work with ➡️You can see in the green book image at end of video that green is really running away from me ➡️Very light right to left wind that is slightly helping ➡️Greens are firm and running about 9 What is your target? What kind of shot are you hitting? What club? Green book image from StrackaLine - Golf Green Reading & Yardage Books green books. (Use code DATALOU15 to save 15%)

Bryson is on day 8 of trying to make a hole in one over his house. How long will it take him? What are the odds? Let’s run the numbers. 👇👇 If you have not seen this, Bryson is trying to make a hole-in-one, over his house, to his backyard green. It's AWESOME. I *think* the shot is about 100 yards. He hits one shot on day one. Two shots on day two. Three shots on day three. Etc.. So how many days will it take him to make an ace? From 100 yards in the fairway the chances a tour pro holes out is *about* 1 in 500. Bryson has a “blind” shot with a perfect flat lie on a mat. And he is hitting the same shot over and over. Does that move his chances to somewhere between 1 in 100 and 1 in 250? Let’s put his chances at 1 in 175 (just a guess). Assuming his odds are 1 in 175, what are the chances he has at least one ace by: Day 10: 27.0% Day 15: 49.7% Day 20: 70.0% Day 25: 84.5% Day 30: 93.0% Day 35: 97.3% Day 40: 99.1% Day 45: 99.7% Day 50: 99.9% What I am more interested in is his chances to skull one 12 feet off the ground. 😂 If you are not tuned into this, it’s awesome. Don’t miss it! (Video from @b_dechambeau)
