They brought back the wire. The recent surge of fiber-optic controlled drones in Ukraine and Kursk has rendered billions of dollars in jamming equipment effectively useless. No Radio Signal: There is no frequency to jam. No Spectral Footprint: You cannot triangulate the pilot because they aren't emitting. Infinite Bandwidth: They aren't transmitting grainy video over a weak 5.8GHz signal. They are sending uncompressed 4K footage through a physical cable. The constraints are physical : the spool has a maximum length (10-20km), and the cable can snag, but the tactical advantage is absolute. We are seeing the "un-invention" of wireless communication to survive in a saturated EW environment. High-tech problems sometimes have hardware store solutions. If you can't hack the signal, you have to cut the cord.
