Rabbi Pinchus Ciment — Lubavitch of Arkansas’ Regional Director and the state’s longest-serving rabbi — opened the U.S. House of Representatives this morning with a prayer. He began with an act of tzedakah — placing money in a charity box — before invoking the Seven Noahide Laws that G-d gave all of humanity after the Great Flood. “Almighty G-d, bless the members of this august body, the United States House of Representatives, who convene to fulfill your very guidance to establish just laws,” he said. In the merit of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, who described America as a “Nation of Kindness,” Ciment said, “Please grant that the vision of our nation for a world imbued with peace and tranquility be the crowning achievement of this mighty and awesome chamber.”

Tanya Printed in Greenland Chabad-Lubavitch Chaplain Captian Heshel Mangel of the U. S. Space Force printed the book of Tanya—the cornerstone of Chassidic thought—in Pituffik Space Base in Northern Greenland. The printing took place on the yahrtzeit of Rabbi Shneur Zalman, the first Chabad Rebbe and Author of the Tanya. In 1964, the Lubavitcher Rebbe sent Rabbi Shmuel Lew (Mangel's wife's grandfather) as an emissary to this base—then known as Thule Air Base—to ensure the Jewish needs of service members. Now, that legacy is continuing.

At the funeral of Rabbi Zvi Kogan, Rabbi Levi Duchman—who directs Chabad-Lubavitch in the UAE—pledges “to establish and build Beis Tzvi—a center where people will come together reflecting your warmth.” Kogan, a Chabad-Lubavitch emissary to the United Arab Emirates, was kidnapped and murdered by terrorists. “Our mission is not to hide, to cower, to duck,” Duchman said. “We stand tall. We hold the torch of Torah and mitzvot to show the world we are alive.”
