I caught this news segment this morning on Los Angeles local NBC about Jose Alvarez, a teacher at John Muir Middle School and lifelong Los Angeles Dodgers fan. When his school's annual Dodgers field trip was canceled due to a teacher's strike, Jose went to the game himself, bought the limited edition Hello Kitty x Dodgers sweatshirts, and gifted them to his class! His dedication to his students and honoring his late father's love of the Dodgers was incredible to see. Teachers like Mr. Alvarez deserve to be celebrated!

I had such an awesome time at Wake Forest today! I want to thank Wake Forest President, Dr. Susan R. Wente, for the warm introduction and tonight’s moderator ESPN College Basketball Analyst, Best Selling Author and attorney Jay Bilas for interviewing me on stage. To the students, community leaders, and the entire Winston-Salem family for supporting my speech. A wonderful up and coming artist, and a student at Wake Forest, drew a portrait of me! I also had a pleasure meeting Wake Forest Men’s Basketball Coach Steve Forbes. I’m wishing you the best of luck next season!

33 years ago, I made the best decision of my life by marrying the beautiful Cookie Johnson. I thank God every day for blessing me with my wife, best friend, and loving mother of our amazing children all wrapped into one! There’s no feeling that can compare to winning a National Championship! 🏆 It’s crazy to think that 45 years ago me and my MSU teammates won a national title. I knew we were up against a 33-0 Indiana State team led by Player of the Year Larry Bird, so I had to make sure I did my part for my team to bring home the trophy. Being awarded Most Valuable Player of the game for my 24 point/ 7 rebound / 5 assist performance and having my teammate Greg Kelser show out with a 19 point / 8 rebound/ 9 assist performance proved two stars was better than one!

I’m devastated to hear about the passing of an incredible young woman, activist and hero Hydeia Broadbent. In 1992, I did a Nickelodeon special called “A Conversation with Magic”, and 7-year-old Hydeia and I made an incredible impact. Hydeia changed the world with her bravery, speaking about how living with HIV affected her life since birth. She dedicated her life to activism and became a change agent in the HIV/AIDS fight. By speaking out at such a young age, she helped so many people, young and old, because she wasn’t afraid to share her story and allowed everyone to see that those living with HIV and AIDS were everyday people and should be treated with respect. Thanks to Hydeia, millions were educated, stigmas were broken, and attitudes about HIV/AIDs were changed. We will miss her powerful voice in this world. Cookie and I are praying for the Broadbent family and everyone that knew and loved Hydeia.

The 1992 All-Star game is a core memory of mine! I owe so much to Commissioner David Stern allowing me to play in the game and helping me change the world after my diagnosis. Love the last couple minutes of the game, competing against my two good friends and NBA greats Michael Jordan and Isiah Thomas. Looking forward to watching this year’s All-Stars play tonight!

My wife Cookie looks so good in her birthday attire! 😍🔥 We’ve had an amazing time celebrating her today in Turks and Caicos with live music, dancing, food, great company, and a live firework show finale. And of course, I bought her some of her favorite purses for her birthday gifts! I always love seeing her beautiful smile, especially on her special day.

Cookie and I were so excited for our annual Magic of Christmas event! We treated 125 local kids to a Target shopping spree where they each got to spend $225 on whatever they wanted! The kids had so much fun and filled their shopping carts with toys, clothes, books and their favorite things. After shopping, the kids enjoyed a delicious breakfast with chicken and waffles from Wings N Waffles and some great fun with the Hoops Bus!! Since 1994, over 45,000 children have received over 500,000 toys and new bikes through our holiday initiatives. We are so blessed to bring joy to so many families every year!

Jackie Robinson paved the way for me. Without him breaking the color barrier in the MLB for the Brooklyn Dodgers, I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to become a part owner of the Dodgers. I'm forever grateful and proud to be a part of an organization with a history of promoting advancement and equality. I’m looking forward to celebrating Jackie Robinson Day at Dodger Stadium tonight with Dodger nation, family, friends, and of course the men in blue as they face the Nationals!

The Phoenix 2 staff gave me an incredible early birthday dinner and celebration! The planning that went in to my celebration was best in class. Everyone helped set up pictures of Cookie and I throughout the years; college to getting married and present day!
