Too often, the debate on healthcare focuses only on insurance and how we pay for care. Yes, let’s fix that system. Last weekend, I called out my opponent Haley Stevens for voting to thank ICE. The very same day, Stevens called for dark money groups to IMMEDIATELY save her by papering over her pro-ICE record. Today, a shady dark money group announced $5 million+ in spending to bail her out.

The 1965 Voting Rights Act was landmark legislation to stop states from diluting the vote of minorities - most notably Black voters in the South who had been systematically disenfranchised. Last month, the US Supreme Court gutted it. Today, Michigan became the first state in the country since that ruling to hold a legislative hearing on state level legislation to enshrine those rights. I was proud to cosponsor these bills and vote them out of committee.
