One of my favorite Putin moments. August 1999, Botlikh, Dagestan. After Russian forces repelled the Islamist militants who had invaded Dagestan, Putin was offered a shot of vodka. He put the glass down and said: “We’ll drink after the task is done.” September 2019 ; he returned 20 years later and finally drank that postponed toast. I think the same applies today: however long it takes, he’ll drink after the task is done.
