Just did a quick video on a couple of the reasons I'm cautious on the market here and why I have not yet covered my $SPY short. With that said, cycle work shows a strong tendency to rally starting sometime in April/May. We are likely looking at a cyclical decline within an on-going secular bull market. However, every bear market starts as a pullback, and when the warning signs are present, I treat a pullback as a potential bear market and step aside until the smoke clears. The biggest warning sign currently is the way individual stocks are behaving and the distribution dominate tape we are seeing. Enjoy the video. Quick video - Thoughts off the top of my head about this market while traveling to a lunch meeting today. Our long-term $SPY model remains on the January 13, 2023 buy signal. In between, my stock trading has gone from aggressively long to all cash several times. Currently holding some names bought earlier this year that are still acting well like... $MU, $WMT, $TMUS, $SPOT, $RCL, $LLY, $NVO. Sold my $NVDA (probably too early) and also sold $PSTG, $GDDY (probably too early, but I love to hear the cash register ring).

On January 13, we went on a buy signal for the $SPY. Since then, it's been a mixed bag for individual breakout stocks with a few select names doing well, but also a good number of stop losses triggering, which has hampered net progress. This is normal at this stage of the cycle. The key is to keep the losses small while you wait for stocks to move in earnest. Some of the bigger movers we traded include $GRBK. We nailed down a 40% gain yesterday. However, it required holding through earnings, so position sizing is the issue. $RETA is one of our current open positions we've held for a while, which is heading into earnings. We took some shares off the table going into earnings with a 20% profit.
