I am proud to lay the foundation stone for the Barzani Grand Mosque in Erbil. The mosque will be built entirely by local expertise and workforce, and it will become the largest landmark of its kind at two million square meters. Throughout Kurdistan’s history, mosques have served as centers of learning and leadership. We hope this mosque will also become a major center for faith, spiritual enlightenment, knowledge, and service to the homeland.

Today we opened the Hanging Gardens of Babylon Park in Ankawa district. Ankawa has always been a symbol of coexistence, and we hope this park will become a place for everyone to enjoy time together. I am happy to see our homeland developing day by day. Together, we will try to create a more prosperous Kurdistan for our people and our visitors.

Less than a year ago, we promised to solve Erbil's water shortage for the next 30 years with a $480 million investment. Today, we delivered on that promise. Clean 24-hour water now flows to neighborhoods in Erbil in the first phase of the Emergency Water Project.

Today marks the 46th anniversary of the Genocide of the Feyli Kurds, in which thousands of Feyli Kurds were killed, disappeared and displaced by the former Ba'athist regime. Once again, we remind the federal government of its moral, legal and constitutional responsibility to provide reparations to the victims of the Genocide of the Feyli Kurds, the chemical weapons attacks, the Anfal Genocide and all the victims of the former Iraqi regime. On this somber occasion, we pay tribute to the souls of the martyrs of the Genocide of the Feyli Kurds and all the martyrs of Kurdistan.

I welcomed Prime Minister-Designate of the federal government علي فالح الزيدي and a delegation from the Coordination Framework to Erbil. We discussed ongoing efforts to form the new federal cabinet. I reaffirmed our support to form a new government and to resolve the outstanding issues between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government on the basis of the Constitution, with full respect for the rights of the people of Kurdistan, and the federal status of the Kurdistan Region. I also stressed that a new opportunity has emerged to address these issues fundamentally, ensure the fair treatment of the Kurdistan Region, and advance Iraq’s political process on the basis of partnership, balance, and consensus. Prime Minister-Designate Al-Zaidi expressed his appreciation for our support and emphasized that a stronger Kurdistan Region contributes to a stronger federal government, and reaffirmed his commitment to the fair treatment of the people of Kurdistan.

Kurdistan will remain the land of coexistence in the region. Today in Erbil, I opened the new Um Al-Noor Church and laid the foundation stone for the Al-Azhar Institute for Islamic studies. I also congratulated graduates of the Islamic Institute of Imams and Preachers.
