This week's Unleashing Greatness lesson is something I taught and shared with Beyoncé and Solange many years ago. I believe in being fair in business, but being overly nice and tip-toeing around egg shells is not my primary concern and never has been. I've always said unfortunately shy people finish last in business. You must be assertive, make sure you are talking to the decision maker, understand leadership, have an incredible knowledge of your product, think outside the box and many more we will dive into in 2025. Anyone who is truly engrained in the business world will tell you that there are sharks everywhere you go. You must have the ability to bite when needed. I don't make the rules, but I know how to play the game and gratefully I am one of the best at it!

This is truly a loss! In 1995, I signed Destiny's Child to D’Wayne Wiggins, who provided exceptional care during their early development. He guided Beyoncé in understanding the creative processes of songwriting and vocal production. What I admire most about D'Wayne is how he gracefully stepped aside as the ladies evolved and required a new creative direction, wishing them nothing but the best—a rarity in both our industry and life. D’Wayne had such humility. We all can learn from him. Most of you have no idea of the journey of Destiny’s Child which has evolved to the solo careers of Beyoncé, Kelly and Michelle and those who truly played a pivotal role. Look forward to me sharing the journey of Destiny’s Child. D’Wayne, may your legacy last forever.

Last night while watching the Oscars, I couldn’t help remembering when Beyoncé performed “Home” at age 7 with an orchestra, which is no small feat especially for a 7 year old. Malcolm Gladwell in his book Outliers talks about what it takes to become truly great at something. Malcolm's deep research showed that it requires 10,000 hours of doing it. This is one of the things that attributes to her greatness and the likes of Serena, LeBron and many others. Book me to speak with new topic just added “Building the Brand of Beyoncé.” Go to

Sometimes, we must make personal sacrifices for goals that we have set for ourselves to become successful. I often share the perspective that success isn't microwaved! Success highlights the importance of patience and effort in achieving one's goals. Success often requires hard work, risk taking, dedication, and sometimes letting go of certain comforts or immediate gratifications. It's a journey that involves growth and learning along the way.
