Chaos in Annapolis. What do you call it when Democrats ram through two election bills at two minutes to midnight on the last day of the session? A disgrace and a clear violation of the House rules. Last night, the majority party didn't just bend the rules; they shattered them. By ignoring proper procedure, they disenfranchised voters across Maryland. The process was so blatant that it calls into question the legality of both SB255 and SB141. Members on both sides of the aisle had no idea what they were voting on. Governor, you’re absolutely right, affordability is no hoax. It’s a harsh reality hitting Maryland families who are already struggling under your big-government policies. Let’s not forget, you inherited a $5.5 billion surplus from Governor Hogan. Yet just nine months ago, you pushed through the largest tax increase in state history, slapping hardworking families with $1.6 billion in new taxes and fees. That is $2 billion in tax and fee increases in the last two years. And then there’s your green energy mandates, which have saddled Maryland with the highest energy bills in the nation, all to pursue extreme climate policies that are not grounded in reality and ignore the everyday costs families are facing. Now, let’s address housing. You keep dodging the real reasons behind skyrocketing prices and demand. Right now, an estimated 60,000 recent non-citizens are on our Medicaid rolls, while hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants call Maryland home. Maryland schools are now funneling over half a billion dollars into funding for Limited English Proficient students. International migration, both legal and illegal, isn’t just a footnote; it’s driving up demand in a strained housing market, further pushing prices higher. Marylanders want a fair system, fiscal responsibility, and policies that prioritize their needs. They’re tired of watching their friends and family move, while their own financial stability is strained. Maryland doesn't need to be a state in constant decline, that is by choice. Vote smart this year.

Here's a question for you: Should local law enforcement alert ICE when they apprehend a level-one sex offender who is here illegally? On Friday, Annapolis Democrats voted against it. Think about that. Their official position is to not contact federal authorities about an illegal immigrant in custody for a sex crime. How does that make anyone in Maryland safer? This isn't just about policy; it's a fundamental difference in worldview. Democrats in Annapolis seem to believe that federal law enforcement officers—the very people sworn to uphold our laws—are a greater threat than sex offenders who have no right to be in this country. They've even gone on record saying federal agents are "not our best and brightest." Is this the future we want for Maryland? A state that prioritizes the comfort of criminals over the safety of its citizens? Thanks to these radical policies, Maryland is on a fast track to becoming the next sanctuary state, and we all know how that story ends. The Maryland Freedom Caucus managed to stall this dangerous bill over the weekend through procedural maneuvers. The fight isn't over. We pick this debate back up on Monday at 3:00 p.m.

By last September, Baltimore ICE had already broken records for arresting criminal illegal sex offenders. Many of these arrests happened only because suspects were already in local custody for other violations. Now, under SB245, these individuals will be released back into our neighborhoods instead of being turned over to federal authorities. How does releasing sex offenders make our citizens safer? This is a question the radical agenda in Annapolis must be forced to answer.

This morning, the session kicked off at 11am, but the games started well before that. I left my office at 10:50am, and on my walk to the state house, Annapolis Democrats quietly slid HB488 onto the agenda. This is Governor Moore's latest power grab. It is a blatant attempt to gerrymander congressional maps and eliminate any Republican representation at the federal level. If his sham commission wasn’t bad enough, now the House of Delegates is rewriting the rules on the fly to silence opposition. The hearing rules were clear. Testimony for a Monday bill had to be submitted by Thursday. But apparently, those rules don’t apply when they’re rushing through a partisan map during a snowstorm. Let’s make no mistake. This isn’t just about maps. This is about disenfranchising Republican voters across the entire state. They’re not even trying to hide it. The Maryland people deserve better than this kind of blatant manipulation of our democracy. Maryland Freedom Caucus

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is right, and the most recent MD Comptroller's Housing Report confirmed that high taxes, expensive energy bills, and the soaring cost of living are forcing Marylanders to leave. 2.3 million Marylanders have already moved to more affordable states. But like most reports from Annapolis, it describes the symptoms instead of curing the disease. Instead of building cheap high-density housing from the Eastern Shore to the mountains, how about Annapolis focuses on why people are moving in the first place? Maryland should not have a tax and energy policy that depletes your checking account and forces grandma and grandpa to move from their home. Cut taxes and fees, increase energy production, and crack down on crime, and before you know it, Maryland will once again be the jewel of the Chesapeake.

Annapolis Democrats have long pushed for a Medicaid-for-All system. Now, as the federal government tightens its belt, Maryland taxpayers are left to foot the enormous bill. You might have heard that undocumented immigrants don't receive Medicaid. In Maryland, that's no longer true. As of July 1, 2023, the Healthy Babies Equity Act expanded to explicitly include noncitizens, regardless of their immigration status. That's right. Noncitizens, including undocumented individuals and those on visas that previously barred them from Medicaid, can get healthcare through the Healthy Babies program. Their immigration status doesn't matter. This also includes Emergency Medicaid for life-threatening conditions—covering everything from labor and delivery to hospital stays and prescriptions at no cost. No one wants to see anyone, regardless of immigration status, denied emergency care. But that's a much different scenario than using taxpayer-funded healthcare as a magnet. This is a video clip from the Department of Legislative Services back in July, going over the OBBB. The OBBB under final passage kept the current funding formula and did away with the 10% penalty. Over the next few days, I'll break down how these policies are impacting our state. By the way, I have a free newsletter that I email out. The link to sign up is in the comments.

Under President Biden, millions of refugees and asylum seekers have been flown into our country. Now, on Tuesday's committee briefing, a bombshell revelation: 60,000 of these "lawfully present noncitizens" are already on Maryland's Medicaid rolls. Think about that. These are individuals who have been in our country for less than five years. Annapolis Democrats have long championed a Medicaid-for-All approach, but now that the federal government is tightening its belt, who do you think will be left holding the bag? Covering these "lawfully present noncitizens" is projected to cost you, the taxpayer, an estimated $600 million. And what about those who won't comply with reapplying or the work requirements? That will total $1.7 billion. With the General Assembly session just over a month away and our state already staring down a $1.4 billion deficit, how can anyone justify adding this liability? This is the battleground. So, here’s the question every elected official and candidate in Maryland must answer: Do you support extending Medicaid to these 60,000 individuals? And if so, how exactly do you plan to pay for it? We deserve to know. By the way, I have a free newsletter that I email out. The link to sign up is in the comments.

Remember when Virginia Democrats won by running on affordability? Sorry, Virginia, but you were warned. The slogan "Don't Maryland my Virginia" fell on deaf ears. Welcome to Maryland South, where the frigidity of rugged individualism is replaced with the warmth of collectivism.

Hey everyone, have you heard about the controversial HB161 that's currently making its way through the Maryland General Assembly? This bill would remove parents' right to opt their children out of gender identity and sexual orientation curriculum. As a parent myself, I am outraged by this piece of legislation and believe that parents should have the final say in what their children are exposed to in school. Yesterday, I gave a fiery opposing speech against this bill, and I urge all of you who are watching to take action. Our friend in the Maryland Freedom Caucus has set up a page to send a letter of opposition to key Annapolis Democrats, urging them to support parental rights and vote against HB161. Please sign it. Let's stand up for our children and ensure that parents have the final decision on the curriculum their child learns.

Maryland is making headlines across the nation as the Democrat-controlled General Assembly pushes forward controversial legislation. One such bill, HB161, aims to strip parents of the right to opt their children out of curriculum covering gender identity and sexual orientation, even for kindergarteners. Meanwhile, HB380—dubbed the "C#nd#ms for Kiddies" bill—proposes allowing vending machines to dispense contraceptives in nursery schools, preschools, elementary schools, and high schools. In response, the Maryland Freedom Caucus has taken action by drafting a compelling letter of opposition, but we need your support to amplify this message. By adding your signature, you’ll send a direct email to key Senate committees, urging them to reconsider these extreme proposals. This isn’t just a petition—it’s an opportunity for the silent majority to take a stand and make their voices heard. Together, we can push back against legislation that goes too far.
