This is a truly historic moment. The results from this pivotal trial evaluating a fully percutaneous transcatheter mitral valve replacement technology has opened a new treatment option for patients who are not good candidates for surgery or TEER. This is a remarkable milestone that will not only transform the field of interventional cardiology but, most importantly, will change the lives of countless patients who have been waiting for a viable treatment option. To see my son graduate with honors from Medical School (University of Illinois College of Medicine, Chicago).❤️ And was Vice-President of the Class Board for all 4 years! Ready for his next chapter… Internal Medicine Residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital (McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago)! Final MITRAL Trial 5Y outcomes LBCT @ #EuroPCR 2023. MViV, MViR & ViMAC with Sapien 3 was associated with sustained improvement of HF symptoms & QoL @ 5 years. THV function remained stable in all groups. Excellent survival @ 5 years in MViV, lower in MViR & ViMAC. Mayo Clinic CV

We evaluated 820 patients treated with TS MViR using the Sapien 3/Ultra/RESILIA THVs between Aug 2015 and Dec 2022 who were enrolled in the STS/ACC TVT Registry. We found a significant reduction in MR and sustained improvement in symptoms at 1 year. Mean mitral gradients were elevated at 30 days (7.9 ± 3.0 mmHg) and at 1 year (8.4 ± 3.4 mmHg), and reintervention rate was high at 1 year (9.1%). However, there was a significant improvement in quality of life which was sustained at 1 year (mean KCCQ score improvement at 30-day was 24.1 points and at 1 year was 25.9). TS MViR is a reasonable alternative for high-risk patients unable to undergo surgery who have favorable anatomy for MViR procedure.
