De groteske onzin die deze Maarten Soubry verspreidt, is werkelijk schandalig. Kennelijk afkomstig uit Roeselare. Geen idee aan welke universiteit hij werkt, maar onmiddellijk ontslag is de enige oplossing! 😉 h/t Wouter Duyck

If I'm searching for a flight on Google, I now have to scroll through two pages of ads, airlines and AI responses before I find Google Flights—which is actually superior than Skyscanner or anything else I've tried. In Google Flights, results are nearly instantaneous, you can apply filters without reloading, and there's virtually no advertising clutter. It has a price calendar, a price history graph, price-tracking alerts, and a "Best flights" ranking that weighs cost against duration and layovers instead of simply sorting by price. Why is Google burying its own superior product? Because of the EU's Digital Markets Act, of course. And now the EU is hitting Google with another billion-euro fine because it still isn't demoting its own services enough. Is there a rational justification for this beyond European hostility toward American Big Tech—an industry in which Europe has fallen hopelessly behind?

I saw RAYE at the Montreux Jazz Festival last night, and it was probably one of the best pop/jazz concerts I've ever seen—up there with David Bowie and Radiohead. I only discovered her a month or two ago, having largely stopped following pop music over the past decade. I find most of it boring and derivative. But I became obsessed with Raye almost immediately, because she's simply phe-no-me-nal. The ambition of her second album, This Music May Contain Hope, is staggering—it's like going straight to your Sgt. Pepper's. There isn't a style she doesn't seem to master effortlessly. As a vocalist, songwriter, composer, and arranger, she's in a league of her own. And my God, those live arrangements. Check her out with full symphonic orchestra in the Royal Albert Hall (and she's arranging this herself??). 😱 She brought a full string and brass section, backing vocalists, special guests including Alicia Keys, Mark Ronson, and her two sisters—all superb musicians. She moved seamlessly from jazz standards to tributes to Nina Simone and Ray Charles, casually crushed Prince's Purple Rain, and delivered her own songs with astonishing versatility. Here's the almost operatic coda to Nightingale Lane, the song that first hooked me. I ended up buying a second-hand ticket from a scalper because I was determined to see her, and I don't regret it. I know I sound like a total groupie, but this really is a generational talent. If you don't know RAYE yet, do yourself a favor and check her out.
