The revered leader & his family’s ultimate sacrifice - 14th month old Martyr Zahra Mohammadi Golpayegani stands testament to the power of his exemplary leadership, unwavering courage & compassion. Was particularly touched to see the Imambara where he offered prayers. May Allah SWT grant him the highest place in Jannah. Ameen.

Difference between a shortsighted politician & a true statesman. In 2003 then BJP PM Vajpayee during his visit to Srinagar showed great faith in Mufti sahab’s vision of peace with dignity even though PDP had a mere 16 MLAs. Today our CM despite 50 MLAs did everything to appease & normalise Delhi’s unilateral actions in August 2019 that cleaved & robbed J&K of its special status.

Im under house arrest for wanting to visit Martyr’s graveyard today. This at a time when GOI has used its tall claims of normalcy in SC to justify an act of betrayal- the illegal abrogation of Article 370. BJPs own heroes Vir Sarvarkar, Shyama Prasad Mukheriji ,Gowalkar & Godse who spread hatred & divison can’t be forced on us. For us those who sacrificed their lives for democracy to take root in J&K will always be admired for their act of courage. We won’t allow you to distort our history or forget our heroes. On the occasion of Martyrs day, I salute their courage for valiantly fighting against despots to the end.

Witnessing this sacred tradition being observed once again on the soil of their forefathers filled my heart with hope and happiness. May this be the beginning of many more such occasions,

Government employees are being herded at five am in sub zero temperatures into vehicles at Budgam bus stand ferrying them to the PM’s rally. Disheartening to see employees being forcibly mobilised to paint a pretty picture that all is well post 2019 & that people here are celebrating their own collective disempowerment & humiliation. Stands contrary to earlier visits by previous PMs like Vajpayee ji & Dr Manmohan Singh ji at the peak of insurgency. Common people then thronged to the venues with great enthusiasm & returned with hope in their hearts. But this time Kashmiris know that everything spoken at Bakshi stadium will be to showcase the so called benefits of illegal abrogation of Article 370 akin to putting salt to their wounds. This visit is only meant to address & drum support amongst BJPs core constituency in the rest of India for the upcoming parliament elections.

These aren’t the homes of helpless Muslim families in UP or elsewhere where targeting minorities has become the norm. This is Jammu & Kashmir where Arfaz a journalist who built a modest home 40 years ago on 3 marlas of land saw it being crushed to rubble in seconds. The NC government dismissed the PDP’s anti-bulldozer bill by branding these residents as land grabbers. Today the brutal consequences of that decision are for all to see.

Every single day the j&k government acts as a mute bystander & a timid enabler of vicious assaults on J&Ks identity & dignity. Declaring Dar Ul Uloom Jamia Siraj Ul Uloom as an unlawful entity under UAPA is a flagrant injustice to the poor underprivileged sections of society. This institution served as a beacon of quality education for students unable to afford expensive schooling. It has produced reputed doctors and professionals who served this nation with dedication. Banning these altruistic institutions without any solid evidence of anti national activity shows a deep seated prejudice & ill intention.

This heartbreaking video of a mother’s desperation to walk hundreds of miles from Kashmir to Kot Bilawal Jail in Jammu just to see her imprisoned son shows the silent suffering of families whose loved ones are kept in far away prisons. It’s why I approached the Honourable High Court to request that undertrials be shifted to their native jails so families can visit them with dignity and support their legal fight. Hoping for a compassionate view.
