🗣️ "We simply will not tolerate people risking the safety of others and themselves by riding electric bikes at speed on our roads and pavements" Yesterday, proactive Roads Policing patrols on Stonebridge Lane saw a vehicle appearing to be exceeding 40mph at about 5pm, but when officers engaged with the rider he rode away. The suspect narrowly missed a pedestrian and was pursued around a nearby housing estate. He rode on pavements and pulled into the path of a car that had to brake suddenly before losing control of the bike and falling off. As the suspect tried to get back on the bike, the officers carefully drove their vehicle onto the bike’s back wheel and detained the rider. A 19-year-old man from Old Swan was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, drug driving, failing to stop, driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence and using a motor vehicle without third party insurance. He has been released under investigation. The bike was found to be capable of top speeds of more than 50mph as well as having worn tyres, no brakes on the rear wheel and pedals that did not function❌ 🚳 Through Operation Gears, we are taking proactive action by seizing illegal bikes, arresting offenders, and increasing high-visibility patrols where the public and our own patrols identify issues. ➡️ Our activity is aimed at disrupting criminality and ultimately protecting our communities. #OpGears #SaferStreets #Arrest

Do you know who the three males in this CCTV clip are? Today, we are releasing footage showing three males who could have information in connection with the murder of Ellis Cox. This has never been released to the public before. Although they are wearing face coverings, we hope it could jog someone's memory who saw them on this date or potentially knows who they are and could come forward with information. Even the smallest of details could be vital to our ongoing investigation. The footage was captured at 9.24pm on Sunday 23 June 2024, which was around an hour and a half before Ellis was shot. It shows a male on a bike and two males on a second bike as they turn into Walton Hall Park from Walton Hall Avenue. Emergency services were called to the Liver Industrial Estate just after 11.10pm following reports that a 19-year-old man, now known to be Ellis, had been shot. He was taken to hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead a short time later. So far, ten people have been arrested in connection to the murder, but no one has been charged yet. A reward of £100,000 is currently on offer for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the murder. It is made up of £20,000 from Crimestoppers and Ellis’ family have raised an additional £80,000. Detective Chief Inspector Steve McGrath, the Senior Investigating Officer, said 🗣️ “We are releasing this footage as part of our ongoing investigation into the murder of Ellis Cox. We are just as determined as we were two years ago to find the people responsible. “I appreciate no one is going to recognise the faces of the three males by watching the CCTV, but we hope that it could jog someone’s memory who knows the males by their clothing or use of the bikes in the location from around that time. “We believe the males in this video could have information to assist our inquiries. They were seen to ride into Walton Hall Park around an hour and a half before Ellis was shot at the Liver Industrial Estate. “I’d like to take this opportunity to appeal to anyone who holds any information whatsoever to get in touch. It’s not too late. We are certain that someone out there knows who is responsible and could end the family’s agonising wait for answers. “If anyone out there is keeping information to themselves, I ask you to consider what Ellis’s family are going through. If you haven’t already, it is now time to come forward with that information.” 🚨 If you have any information that could help us, you can visit our dedicated web page to submit information or footage which can help in the investigation of Ellis’s murder: You can also contact us on social media Merseyside Police Contact Centre. Today, we are releasing new CCTV footage showing four males who we believe could have information about the murder of Sam Rimmer. It shows them next to a playground off Cockburn Street, in Dingle, at 10.30pm on Thursday 16 August 2022, which is around an hour and ten minutes before Sam was shot. Although it’s dark and the males are wearing face coverings, detectives believe they are acting suspiciously and could be in possession of a possible firearm. We hope by releasing this footage that it could jog someone’s memory who saw them on this date or potentially knows who they are and could come forward with information. Sam was shot at around 11.40pm on Lavrock Bank, in Dingle, when two electric bikes drove into the cul-de-sac and fired a number of shots towards him and other males. As a result, 22-year-old Sam was injured and despite the best efforts of officers and ambulance staff he was sadly pronounced dead a short while later at hospital. So far, ten people have been arrested in relation to the murder of Sam, but no one has been charged. Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £20,000 for information that leads to the conviction of anyone involved in the murder. Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Steve McGrath, said 🗣️ “This footage shows four males who we are looking to speak to in connection with Sam’s murder. “I believe from viewing the footage that they are potentially in possession of a firearm and we continue to carry out extensive enquiries to find these individuals. “I appreciate no one is going to recognise the faces of the males by watching the CCTV, but we hope that it could jog someone’s memory who knows the males by their clothing or use of the bikes in the location from around that time. “I want to reassure them, and the wider community in Dingle, that we are still just as determined to find the people responsible for Sam’s murder as we were four years ago. As part of our investigation we have made a number of arrests and received a lot of information from the public. We just need the final piece of the puzzle. “I’d like to take this opportunity to appeal to anyone who holds any information whatsoever to get in touch. It’s not too late. We are certain that someone out there knows who is responsible and could end the family’s agonising wait for answers." 🚨 Anyone with information should contact us on social media Merseyside Police Contact Centre. Today, Stephen Bates has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 18 years after being found guilty of murdering Martin O’Donovan in April. On a night where Martin’s family were celebrating his mother’s 70th birthday, Bates was heavily intoxicated, and people intervened to prevent him from driving. Bates returned to the scene in his car, using it as a weapon to fatally injure 47-year-old Martin who was sitting outside the house. Martin was seriously injured after the car was driven at him on Stonyhurst Road. Emergency services attended the scene, and Martin was taken to hospital, but he sadly died from his injuries. The video footage shows Bates, 42, of Herondale Road, Mossley Hill, in his car moments before he murdered Martin, his 999 call to the police and his arrest. Following Bates’ sentencing, we are issuing the following words from Martin’s family, who describe him as a “kind, intelligent, generous and deeply loved man” ❤️ "Martin was a kind, intelligent, generous and deeply loved man. A brother, son, uncle and friend whose warmth, humour and integrity touched everyone around him. His absence has left a hole in our lives that will never be filled. "The actions that took Martin from us were deliberate, senseless and cruel. Throughout this process, we have seen no sign of remorse from the defendant. No acknowledgment of the suffering caused or the life taken, and lives destroyed. That absence of humanity has compounded our grief and made this ordeal even harder to bear. "While today’s outcome brings a measure of accountability, it cannot bring justice in any true sense. There is no sentence long enough, no words strong enough, to balance the loss of Martin. We will carry his memory with us always, and our focus now is on honouring the life he lived rather than the manner in which it was taken. "We wish to thank the Merseyside Police, the prosecution team and all those who have supported us with professionalism and compassion through this difficult time.” To read the full press release, visit the ‘news’ section of our website.

This CCTV footage shows 68-year-old Rose Johnston in the hours before she was found murdered at her Dovecot home 💔 The footage has been released to coincide with the first anniversary of the 68-year-old’s death. Rose was found dead at her home on Ancroft Road at 12.35pm on Saturday 4 October 2025. She had been assaulted and suffered a blunt force head injury. On the afternoon of Thursday 2 October Rose was captured on CCTV socialising with a group of friends at The Watch Maker pub in #Prescot town centre. She then travelled to her home by taxi at around 12.40am on Friday morning. Her body was discovered the following day (Saturday 4 September). She was wearing the same clothing she was wearing on Thursday when she was found. The last few hours that Rose was alive we can see on the CCTV that she was simply enjoying an afternoon and evening socialising with a group of friends. We know that after leaving the pub she arrived home via taxi and that was the last time she was seen alive. Rose’s family and friends have been left devastated by their loss, but we remain committed to getting the answers they deserve 💙 🤝 Crimestoppers, which is independent of the police, is continuing to support the investigation by offering a reward of up to £20,000 for information the charity exclusively receives – either online via their website or by calling 0800 555 111 at any time – that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Rose’s murder. 🚨 If you know what happened to Rose, or have heard conversations, rumours or details that have never been shared, please contact Crimestoppers anonymously. They are completely independent of the police, and they will never ask for your personal details. You can tell them what you know and remain 100% anonymous. Today marks one month since the body of a woman was discovered in Stanley Park. As enquiries continue, Detective Superintendent Rachel Wilson is making a renewed appeal for information and sharing new details that could help identify the woman. At around 5.25pm on Friday 28 August, officers were called after a member of the public discovered a black bin bag in bushes within the park's walled garden. Officers attended and sadly found the body of the woman. It is believed she had been there for several weeks, possibly since early July. The woman was white, approximately 5ft 2in tall and of slight build and was found wearing a pink Nike T-shirt. Further enquiries have revealed: ▪ The woman had no teeth, meaning dental records have not been available to assist with identification. ▪ She suffered from osteoporosis, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and arthritis in her hands. ▪ She was malnourished, although it has not been possible to determine whether this was linked to her age or neglect. ▪ We have also expanded our enquiries to investigate reports of women aged between 60 and 80. We hope that details about the woman's medical conditions may help someone recognise her and come forward. Do you know someone matching this description who has not been seen for several weeks? This could be a family member, friend, neighbour or someone from your local community. Our enquiries remain ongoing and to date the occupants of nearly 900 properties have been spoken to and 126 women have been eliminated from our enquiries after concerns were raised for people matching the description of the woman. If you have any information, no matter how big or small. please contact us via: 📱 Social media: Merseyside Police Contact Centre 💻 Website: 📞 Call 101, quoting reference 26000706383 You can also submit images or footage directly to the investigation team through our dedicated Public Portal: If you would prefer not to speak to police directly, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Crimestoppers is independent of the police and will not ask for your personal details. Please share this appeal to help us identify this woman and to give her a name 💙
